The CFP might as well be renamed the Alabama Invitational, and the Tide could have lost by those 14 points by which they trailed on Saturday and still made the field. But the Buckeyes received what seemed like only cursory consideration after beating Northwestern 45-24 for the Big Ten championship, and it’s the continuation of a disturbing trend from the committee, which absolutely doesn’t value the Big Ten champion.
This marks the third straight season the conference champion has not been selected for the tournament, and the best Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany could say about that is he is “a little disappointed.”
Could you imagine the outcry if the SEC champions got left out, these scam committee crooks wouldn’t leave the SEC champ out if they had 2 losses. Y’all can buy this scam if you want to but I’m telling you it’s fixed. Had Georgia beat Bama they would’ve had 2 teams in again, it’s a scam....period! And Delany is a scumbag...period!
If Ohio State hadn't gotten blown out over the past two seasons by unranked teams, they would have been in the college football playoff both times. Period
True dat Roam!
They had one bad game but Ohio st had better wins than Oklahoma. I also think Oklahoma would’ve got their clock cleaned had they played Purdue that night. I also think Purdue is better than Texas. we know Texas ain’t as good as Maryland because Maryland has beat ‘em 2 straight games.texas just play garbage teams from the weak 12. Ohio st and Georgia are the only 2 teams that have the horses to take down the Tide and both teams were left out lol it’s a scam system Roam. I guess you’re right thought Ohio st should’ve went undefeated if they want a chance for the CFP because it’s a fact only the SEC, ACC and big 12 get a pass for losing because the big 10 and PAC sure don’t.
I told LB’r99 that defending Ohio st and Georgia just makes me feel dirty and now I know how slimy attorneys feel. I just feel dirty defending these 2 teams lol

Everything you just said is pure speculation and opinion... from the "weak 12" to "Purdue could beat Texas". None of that matters. The committee has made it perfectly clear: Don't get blown out by unranked teams.
And no, Ohio State didn't have to go undefeated. They just needed to be competitive against a 6-6 team. They weren't, and lost by 29 points. Had they lost by 3, they'd be in the CFP. Even if they lost by 14, they'd probably be in.... but THEY LOST BY OVER 4 TOUCHDOWNS TO A 6-6 TEAM.
It's not who you beat, it's who beats you and by how much. In 2016 I don't think Pitt's loss killed us. It was the Michigan loss as a butt kicking. Last year, anOSU could have survived the Iowa loss. It was the margin of the loss that hurt.

Exactly Navy... What has kept the Big Ten champion out of the CFP the last 3 years is:
Michigan 49, Penn State 10
Iowa 55, Ohio State 24
Purdue 49, Ohio State 20
Pure and simple. Had any of those games been close, the Big Ten champ is in the CFP.
It’s all speculation Roam because I don’t know if Clemson, ND, Oklahoma or Alabama can beat Ohio st because they don’t play. It’s a total scam. Clemson loses to Pittsburgh and stinking Syracuse and they still get in. Alabama loses the last game of the year sits at home and doesn’t win the SEC and they get in. Ohio st and ND sit at home watching teams win conference championships and they get in. That’s enough proof that this BS is a scam.
all of those situations you just mentioned have one thing in common, none of those teams had two losses or got blown out by unranked teams.
the committee has made it perfectly clear, they're willing to look past one loss if you were competitive in the game. if you got blown out, they aren't going to look past it.
The system is horrible, 8 would be the best way
Better wins should override one bad loss. When you play competitive games every week and you go on the road you might take it on the chin like Georgia did last year to a 4 loss auburn team. You’ll see come Bowl time because Alabama will poor it on Oklahoma and Texas is really going to get it lol just wait and see. The more I think about the ACC I really don’t know how good Clemson is, ND just might beat ‘em. I think ND matches up good against Clemson. ND is a solid football team that has beat some good teams, Clemson ain’t beat any good teams, they’ve beat average teams unless I’m missing a team? SCAR is probably their best win?

Better wins should absolutely never override bad losses.
I've been hearing this nonsense about teams "pouring it on Oklahoma come bowl time" yet they seem to have done well against the SEC in the past 5 years. Georgia needed OT to beat Oklahoma last year, the year before that the Sooners beat Auburn, and teo years before that Oklahoma beat Alabama.
So in 5 years the Sooners are 2-1 vs. the SEC in New Year's Six bowls, with the only loss being in OT. Is this your proof that Oklahoma stinks? And don't pull the BS of "SEC beats each other up" because this is bowl time, no one is beat up. Once is one thing, but 3 out of 5 years OU has given the SEC all it could handle.
It’s one bad loss Roam you act like they lost 2 or 3 games so beating #4 Michigan makes up for the one loss. They also beat #12 penn st and #18 NW. they beat 5 ranked teams this year. One loss and Oklahoma has a loss to. You think a lot of Texas when I don’t especially after Maryland best ‘em

And you think a lot of Purdue when Eastern Michigan bested them. And you think a lot of the Big Ten when teams like Arizona State, Eastern Michigan, BYU, Duke, Troy, and Akron beat some of the supposedly better teams in the conference.
Had to print out jim delany's (all small letters for another small man) comments. Just ran out of toilet paper. I knew his words would come in handy someday. Thanks jim.
Southern, Ohio State did not beat 5 ranked teams. The only ranked teams on their schedule are Penn State, Michigan, and Northwestern.
Oklahoma beat 3 ranked teams as well, but also didn't lose by 29 to an unranked one.
TCU and Michigan St was ranked when they played ‘em and had Ohio st not knocked them off both team would probably be ranked today. They still get credit for beating a ranked team.

I'm sorry Southern, but that's completely ridiculous. You're giving credit to Ohio State for beating a ranked TCU, but no credit to Oklahoma for beating TCU by more because they weren't ranked anymore? THE SAME TEAM. WTF???????
I never said Oklahoma shouldn’t get credit for beating TCU. If TCU was ranked they should get credit. I don’t know if they was are not I was just looking at Ohio st’s record and schedule.

Both Ohio State and Oklahoma played TCU. When Ohio State played them, they were ranked. When Oklahoma played them, they were not ranked.
This is why you should not use "ranked when they played" as any type of indicator whatsoever. Who cares if TCU was ranked when OSU played them, it was only pre-season hype. They weren't a good team. By the time Oklahoma played them, TCU had shown they weren't good.
But each team played the same team. Yet you said Ohio State beat 5 ranked teams like that means something, when Oklahoma played TCU also but guess what? TCU wasn't ranked then... So they get no credit. It's just nonsense and a biased way to look at it. Ohio State gets all the credit for beating a "ranked team", but Oklahoma doesn't because well... "Just another Big 12 nobody" when they played. LMAO
You want to know how good someone's schedule was? Look at who is ranked NOW. Each team has a body of work and the rankings are based on that, and Ohio State only played 3 ranked teams.
Ok we’ll do that, Ohio st has played 2 teams much better than the best team Oklahoma played. Ohio st has a win against a top 10 team plus penn st at 12th. Oklahoma’s best win is against garbage Texas lol. Oklahoma ain’t the only team that beat Texas stinking Maryland best ‘em to.

I've always thought this forum could be renamed the Southern/Roam Battle Royale!!! There is zero negativity in my comment, I love reading their back and forth's.
I was just going on with Roam on me being right all the time lol
The thing I love is that Southern and I can express our opinions knowing there is no animosity between us and we each respect each other.
Even if my opinion is better lmao
