Man that woman from the tv show ain’t no threat to run off and you know it. Again I’m not saying not give ‘em a slap on the wrist just no jail time like what I’m hearing. She probably didn’t even think it was that big of a deal when she was paying for her daughter to go to USC. And since when did going to college become a constitutional right? Now I see all these people trying to sue lol. Man we’ve become a bunch of wussies lol.

I fail to see why bribery and mail fraud isn't a big deal, or why the people mad about it are wussies.

To let this go, or act like it's not a big deal would only accomplish two things:

1. Invite even more fraud because... why worry about repercussions?

2. Put on blatant display that they law doesn't care about the poor and underprivileged people hurt or disadvantaged when rich people commit crimes.

Yeah... no thanks. If they did it, I hope these people go to jail. You have to be incredibly naive to think that someone giving a person $500,000 in secret and creating fake profiles for their children didn't think it was a big deal. In fact, I don't care if she didn't think it was a big deal, I'm sure the people spending 5 years in prison for smoking weed didn't think it was a big deal either.

Bottom line, if their grades were good enough to get into a prestigious school, they wouldn't have had to cheat the system to get their precious babies into a good college.

Le'me ask you this SPF, you're grades qualify you to get into a good school, the one you want to go to. Someone else can't qualify academically, but pays a bribe to get accepted, taking "your" place. That's ok with you?

I'm not saying it's worth suing the school, but Brother, it ain't right.

One of the biggest reasons white collar crime is so prevalent is because we're completely soft on punishing it. We will send someone to maximum security prison for 5+ years if they rob a bank of $10,000, yet if some guy like Jordan Belfort rips off people for over $200 million he goes to minimum security prison for less than 2 years.

BULLSH*T

For a jaded perspective as to why that might be, listen to the arguments of Ordell Robbie (played by Samuel L. Jackson) to Beaumont Livingston (played by Chris Tucker) in Jackie Brown as to why Beaumont will not go to jail for parole violation.  Bottom line is that our jails are full of really bad guys and some people in society believe that for non violent offenders,we don't need to lock everybody up.  As a former prosecutor and former criminal defense attorney, I say throw away the key.

Guys, I could care less what happens to the parents who stooped to bribery to get their little snow flakes into the prestigious University of their dreams.  The legal system will take care of them (or not).  I just want to hear something from the NCAA, even if it's only to say they aren't going to do anything because they feel their rules weren't violated.  I would just like Emmert to come out from under his rock and make an a-- out of himself again!

Left coast liberals ain’t supposed to want anybody to go to jail lol....just kidding. I said give ‘em a slap on the wrist but it doesn’t call for throwing the book at ‘em. Give ‘em a big fine if they’re found guilty. When I said wussies I’m talking about people that are going to try and sue for money to get free money. Their little feelings got hurt and now they think they’re owed something. Gimme a break life just ain’t fair sometimes so people need to just deal with it.

Okay... two problems I have with your post here:

1. They bribed people, and your solution to punish them is a fine? Like, just pay another bribe to the legal system and go about your day? LMAO how is that a punishment? They basically just write a check and walk away? That's your definition of justice?

2. As for the people sueing, are you serious? Their feelings weren't hurt, their kids acceptance to USC or other places was ripped away and given to a POS that didn't deserve it. Sorry, but that is more than just feelings being hurt.

Happens everyday roam people paying fines to get out of trouble. Nobody got hurt or killed so a fine is fine with me. Sometimes you just have to eat a chit sandwich brother, everybody has had to do it so yes go find another college to go to and most likely this won’t be the last chit sandwich they have to eat. I know what you’re saying but like I said sometimes life just ain’t fair. Man it would be sweet if the media would pay as much attention to the politicians and the dirty stuff they get away with as they do a rich lady paying for her kid to go to college even if it’s doing it under the table. The tv lady ain’t no criminal she just did something wrong for her kid.

Nonsense. People thinking like that is exactly why they get away with it, they count on people's apathy and thoughts of "everyone is doing it" to commit fraud.

I have no idea why you'd care if these people were held accountable for their actions, the only coherent reason you've given is that other people commit crimes so who cares?

I said give them a fine. I don’t know what the size of the fine needs to be but it needs to be big enough to get their attention. They got caught and I’m sure they are very embarrassed. Don’t think for one second I don’t hold people accountable for what they do because I wouldn’t get my brother out of jail when he was out robbing Walmart’s. My mother and dad got upset with me and I told ‘em I ain’t putting all my stuff on the line so he can rob Walmart. I had 3 cousins that all had to put their houses up to get him out and when he got out he went right back and started robbing Walmart again and got caught again. My brother caused a lot of problems but I got things worked out with my parents before they passed. Before my mother passed I told her I would help him when he gets out of prison and she smiled at me. Don’t think for one second I’m soft on crime because I’m not. You do the crime you do the time.    Stealing, rape, killing,  hurting kids and beating on women is what I consider jail crime or death penalty crime. Fixing grades and paying bribes to go to college ain’t big time crimes IMO. It’s crimes but not crimes to throw the book at ‘em

Sorry to hear about your brother, but why do you keep saying "throw the book at them" like a few years of jail time is the worst thing anyone could do? The crimes of some of these people can carry up to 25 years of jail, and no one here has said they should do the maximum. This isn't an all or nothing proposition... 1, 2, or even 3 years in jail isn't throwing the book at them. Not even close.

You may be comfortable with crimes that dick over people with less money, but I'm not. That "life's not fair" line swings both ways as far as I'm concerned, and if those actresses don't like their stay in jail I couldn't care less because "life ain't fair". Politicians do worse? Too bad life ain't fair. Others got away with it? Oh that's too bad life ain't fair. You didn't use a gun? Too bad life ain't fair... enjoy your stay in prison.

I've seen up close what happens to others who feel the effect of these so called "non violent" crimes, some in my family and some were friends. One guy I know was up for a job that would have paid $150,000 a year, and lost out to another guy in the last round of interviews. The other guy falsified his resume, falsified his previous work documents, and lied about some other things and they found out 4 years later. His penalty? He was fired and had a $15,000 fine.

That POS stole roughly $100,000 a year out of my friend's pocket for 4 years, so excuse me if I don't think these people should get more than a damn fine for their sh*I*ty behavior. It causes a lot more than, as you say, "hurt feelings". My friend had a 4 year / $400,000 opportunity ripped out of his hands by a POS who got off for next to nothing, I'm not okay with giving people like that a fine to walk away.

It's nice when a few people with different opinions can talk to each other and argue about it without insulting each other or calling people names. I think it is safe to say that we all know where we stand on this and don't hold anything against the other.

...but I am right. LMAO

You'll find this funny... even though neither my wife or I are Trump fans, we get a kick out of yelling "TRUMP 2020!" when we're around town.

LMAO, I love Corvallis (Oregon State). Actually people around here are great, it's not your typical liberal college campus. They kinda just laugh at it knowing we are making a joke, or don't really mind it much. It's a laid back area, more live and let live and everyone has different opinions type of place. Now if we were to go down to Eugene (University of Oregon), we'd probably be burned at the stake for saying that. It's a completely different world down there, they actually call Eugene "Berkeley North"

Not surprisingly Oregon State is the more engineering and agricultural school, while University of Oregon is a more Education and Liberal Arts school. Corvallis is also very close to another town called Albany, and you can drive down the main highway and pass 3 or 4 gun stores in 2 miles. Funniest thing is they are usually right next to marijuana dispensaries. 🤣 🤣 🤣

I like it Bob! I wouldn’t take up that cause so much except in multiple cases it involved NCAA sanctioned athletic programs. In  many ways ( in my opinion) the infractions are aligned MUCH closer to athletics than what happened at Penn State as horrible as it was. LACK OF INSTITUTIONAL CONTROL!

IMHO that is the take you can get from this whole mess.  Lack of institutional control over NCAA sanctioned athletics.  Especially in the case of USC and Lynn Swann.  There is an excellent article on PL and he so much as admits he had no clue.  BUT ... he's no Joepa, so Emmert will stay under his rock 😏 😏 😏 😏 😏
