Great if Urb really was interested but we decided no because he didn't know how to manage NIL AND/OR COEDS. Wait, if we even put out feelers we don't care about COEDS. Maybe the NCAA was right and we have a culture problem 🙂 What a farce that was.
If only JF's little black book had some winning coordinators in it and he let them do their job.
@psujoe you can say that for a lot of coaches homer. You can’t take away Brady from Belichick especially when he drafted him. What we do know is they were great together just like Chuck Noll and Terry Bradshaw were great together. My thing with Belichick is he’s been in so many Super Bowl rather it’s head coach or DC and you don’t get lucky 13 or 14 times coaching in the Super Bowl. Brady is the greatest but some years when they won the Super Bowl their defense is what won it because they had some bad ass defenses at NE when he first got there. What did the Tuna ever win without Belichick? Nothing but you can’t say the Tuna wasn’t one of the best. All we can go by is what happened on the field when Belichick was coaching at the NFL level and it was great for over 35 years and ain’t nobody that damn lucky
- From 2001 to 2021, the Patriots finished in the top 10 for fewest points allowed per game in 18 seasons. These numbers don’t lie. Brady helped too but so did the defense and Belichick is the mastermind behind the Patriots defense. It was a team thing in NE that Belichick built.
Just my opinion but had Belichick had Manning, Drew or Troy Aikman he would get the same results because of his defense. Great QB and great defense= Super bowl wins
@southern-psu-fan Chuck Knoll was never labeled a genius and he never got caught cheating. He also was by far a better coach.
Bellicheat still hasn’t done shit without Brady.
Chuck Noll and Terry Bradshaw hated each other. Noll was finished without Bradshaw. The 80s were a dark time in Steelers Football.

It wasn’t just Bradshaw, the entire team got old and it took a decade to replace everyone.
I sure hope it doesn't take us a decade to replace everyone, lol!
And the skills to be a college NIL Coach are much different than NFL I suspect. I respect his body of work, I don't want him as my shortstop.
Part of the reason the Patriot defenses didn't give up a lot of points was because the offense had the ball for most of the game...Also it helps when you have the other teams practice tapes and know what they are running...He is the biggest fraud and scumbag to every coach at that level...
@the-funeral-director he might be a scumbag FD but he’s not a fraud 😂

Couldn’t win in Cleveland, couldn’t win in NE before and after Brady and sucks as the North Carolina coach. The evidence is obviously stacked against him being the GOAT or a legend.
Biggest fraud in coaching history and the only guy who is close is Dodge Charger Saban...Isn't it funny how they are best buddies...It is fascinating how that works but my old man always said that birds of a feather flock together and you never saw Eagles flying with Turkey Vultures...Both are cheating con artists...
@psujoe Cleveland made the playoffs and I believe the patriots made the playoffs after Brady. It’s hard after you lose your starting QB and have to start over.
It shouldn't be hard if you are a coaching genius...The problem Billie Boy had was the league was onto his cheating bullshit and he didn't have his Hall of Fame QB anymore...Easy to gameplan when you know what the other team is doing cause you were secretly filming their practices...What a con artist and a fraud...He can't lose enough for me...
I'll pass...
The one coach I’ll never understand why we never made a play for is Ferentz. I’m not saying to do it now but if there was ever a better coach doing more with less in the B1G I’d like to know who it was. I would have loved to see what he could have done with the higher level of recruits he would have brought to Happy Valley.
Very interesting 😁
I always liked the guys level of energy but as FD says, I’ll pass.
TAMU was rumored to be pushing to extend Elko during their bye week and it didn’t happen. I’m wondering if the Elko to PSU rumors heat up a little this week.
One thing Fitz would bring back is up front we won’t be gettin hit in the mouth especially on defense. Brent Key reminds me a lot of Fits very physical OL. Fitz uses it on the DL and Brent Key is an OL dude but both coaches were very physical up front and neither coach has or ever had the studs Penn St gets. You’re right homer, the Iowa coach is tough in the trenches to and both Key and Fitz could learn something from Ferentz because he’s been doing it 30 or more years.
@the-funeral-director Every great coach has their run jimmy Johnson, Landry, Noll, Pete Carroll, Bill Parcells and even Belichick. Belichick was able to do it much longer than the other coaches but imo his ship has sailed and he’s to old. I’m sure I missed a few great coaches but they all lose it just like all the great race car drivers, QB’s and home run hitters, they get to old and lose the magic they had.
Hayden Fry had practically the same winning percentage, and ended the year ranked in 10 seasons out of 20. Ferentz has ended the year ranked 10 times out of 27.The one coach I’ll never understand why we never made a play for is Ferentz. Not sure the "done more with less" narrative holds up if his predecessor had just as much, if not more, success.

Why has he beaten PSU the amount of times he has when he has rarely ever been able to recruit at the same level as PSU does? Because he does more with less that’s why. There’s no doubt in my mind that if he were at PSU he would be able to recruit at a higher level.
I’m not comparing him to Hayden Frye , I’m comparing him to other coaches of his era.
