Clifford is not one of Penn State’s players invited to the NFL combine. As many on this forum feel, the Rose Bowl was his last hurrah.
It was a great game for him and was proud of the way he played. He stepped his game up and was MVP of the Rose Bowl and he set a few records I believe. It was a great way to go out if that was his last game.

It's great for Clifford... but I'm not a fan of letting kids who stayed 6 years set the records. Seems a bit unfair to those who came before them.
Agreed in part. I guess it really depends on the record. Clifford's record for Completion Pct (61.4%) is pretty impressive and isn't unfairly influenced by how long he played. In fact, the longer he played and the more passes he threw makes that record standout more, IMO.
@roaminglion Well, the same could be said for players that played 12, 13, 14 or 15 games a year compared to the players of years ago the played a max of 9 or 10 games.
Clifford can still participate in PSU Pro Day, if he desires. Other than that, I think he'll do just fine in the business world w/ his PSU degree. And maybe even not have his body fall apart before it's time. Though, college ball still take it's toll.
Clifford played by all the rules set by the ncaa. I believe he only started a few more games than McSorley because one year was only 9 games. Wasn’t the TD throw in the Rose Bowl a record because that was record I was talking about then the long TD run by Singleton and he was the QB on both plays. Who knows his name might float around another 100 years 😂 Clifford was a good QB for Penn State but I can names 5 or 6 that was a lot better but he had a good career at Penn St especially getting that Rose Bowl win that was a big win for Penn St a win that made a season go from good to great IMO. Winning the Cotton Bowl and Rose Bowl as starting QB ain’t to shabby 😁
I questioned his credibility at times when his back was up against the wall in tight games. I think he liked to play hurt. At times it also seemed like he was instructed when to play hookie. Maybe someday Franklin can bring him on as an assistant or analyst.

Franklin was asked about the potential of bringing Clifford back to coach. Franklin said he didn’t think Clifford would want to do that because of the amount of time coaching involves.
@sky I’m talking about you questioning Clifford’s credibility when the dude was beat down in games and he was still giving it a 100%. He also had a lot of heat on him from the fans and the dude still went out and tried his best. Clifford doesn’t have a credibility problem imo. Like BT said, he has a nice degree from Penn St I’m sure he’s going to be ok regardless what he decides to do. I just don’t understand the credibility part.
@southern PSU fan
Not sure why you think I am questioning Clifford’s credibility. I posted he was not invited to the combine and Franklin saying he didn’t think he would want to coach.
Clifford will go down as an average qb at a college not known for having great qb’s. I think he is a smart guy and will do well in business.
@sky May want to reread the thread or switch to FT.

That's a good point.

Yup, exactly... I'm not a fan of that either. IMO the record books should reflect that, possibly be having a section for "overall" records regardless of circumstance but also having a section for "years with 10 game seasons" or something along those lines. It seemed like the NFL just glossed over the fact that Jefferson on the Vikings was going to play 17 games when he was close to breaking Calvin Johnson's record.

@forum-titan I’m lost
How are you lost? I think he liked playing the injury bug when things started going south. Did he come out of the Iowa game holding his ribs? Then suddenly next week he was perfectly fine? I think that was all BS. In addition there are a few things someone pointed out to me when we watched that game together. The person is in the medical field.
@forum-titan I’m lost because I don’t know why you questioned his credibility.

If by "perfectly fine" you mean wearing a huge flack jacket, in obvious pain, and unable to run or throw like usual... then yeah, he was "perfectly fine" in the Illinois game.
Also... he was injured against Iowa when we were winning, so how exactly is that "going south"? He threw a pick, stayed in the game, and lead us to a big lead and that's when he was injured.
I 100% agree with this. There could be an asterisk for a lot of things, but 6 years is a bonafide asterisk.It was a great game for him and was proud of the way he played. LMAO !! Rather obvious that the person that's lost isn't Southern it's the Forumtighten/snakeoil retard Rutgers fan that lives in Aristes. It seems like the fumes from the mine fire are getting to him again.

@psu61 Well, I think we need to take a page from competitive ice skating where each year's result should be based on degree of diffiulty, grade of execution, overall skill and performance level through game componants ( see below*). Then throw out his best year and his worst year (Cliff has many years of play) for a fair and averaged record against past competitors.
*Official US Figure Skating Rulebook. In the IJS, competitors accumulate points based on the degree of difficulty (base value) of each technical element and how well each element is executed (grade of execution, or GOE). Skaters also earn points based on their overall skating ability and performance level through program component scores.
