The thing I am liking about Yurcich is he seems to have what Moorhead had.... a willingness to adapt what he does based on his personel. Yurcich has had success for years, with different styles depending on his players. Ciarrocca's best success came with specific players, doesn't seem he's really able to adapt his style accordingly. That's great when you have the players, but no so much when you don't.
I have high hopes.
Moorehead had McSorley and Barkley. Easy to be a genius offensive coordinator with those guys.
This is a very cogent point Sky...Great players always make a coach look a lot smarter than he actually is...However the great ones tailor their game plans around the strengths of their personnel and put them in positions for them to succeed...I believe this offense has plenty of talent and playmakers to be successful if they are deployed properly...In my humble opinion the time for excuses is over...My focus isn't even on the skill players but on the offensive line...It's about time we got some ass kickers up front that can get some push off the line of scrimmage and take over a football game from the trenches...I can't remember the last time we could say that about a Penn State offensive line...

He also had a history of producing those results elsewhere. So not just because of those 2
Also, Oregon's offense scored pretty well last year. They averaged the same amount of points per game as the previous 2 seasons with a 1st round pick at QB.

Interesting take but he still had quality kids to coach. The famous Earl Weaver said, “The difference between the worst coach in the game and the best coach is 5 wins.”
Moorehead has had an interesting run but I wouldn’t put him in the same offensive category as Bill Walsh. I remember when PSU played Stanford and Walsh was the coach. His offensive play calling embarrassed Penn State.
