Entering week 8 in 2016, Penn State was 4-2, with losses to Pitt and a blow out at Michigan and they were not ranked in the top 40. When the regular season dust settled, Penn State was ranked 5th and then became the Big10 Champions. The Big 10 title is not an option this year, although a quick look tells me 4 teams in the East Division could finish with 2 losses each creating a 4 way tie....from here I am lost then. And the chances are slim at best with Ohio State and Michigan losing two each.
Penn State is coming into this weekend ranked 18th vs 40 something in 2016, so the climb is not as big. That second divisional loss is what is killing them. However, get in and out of Indiana with a win and then they have (hopefully) a ranked Iowa team at home and then a highly ranked Michigan team away. Win the next three games and they are sitting back in the top 10 with a very good chance at major bowl game.
There is a lot of football to be played, you just never know from week to week, but if this team can finish in the top 10 again....this would be another stepping stone in the right direction.
Got to keep the faith and support these guys!
GO STATE!!!
2016 was an anomaly. Every single thing fell in place. But it won’t matter. They aren’t as good as many have hyped them up to be, too many losses to graduation. See my other post.
