@mtnittanylion Your laurels very impressive indeed. Wrestling is so intense and the burnout rate high so you have to give credit to the March podium guys (and girls) and champs. It takes great dedication and heart to get there. Was the coach at WVU who recruited you Craig Turnbull? I knew him as well as Asst Coach Nate Carr (ever hear of him). Turnbull never got out of districts yet one of the most successful careers at Clarion. BTW, at the time our school wrestled in the catholic league PCIAA where I made it to the podium. We should really take this to Wrestling thread. See you over there.
Yes, Craig was the guy! When it was all said and done, I should have gone to WVU. I didn't for all of the wrong reasons.
The best wrestler from my high school was a kid named Matt Gerhard...He was a 4 time PIAA State champ in class AA...Catasauqua High School...He had a brother Chris who was a great football player and also was a PIAA State champ in class AA...Chris graduated in 1982 I believe and his brother graduated in 86 I think...As far as my experience my basketball injuries affect me far more today than my football injuries...I wasn't a lineman nor linebacker...I played strong safety and multiple offensive positions in my 4 years...Basketball really took a toll on my ankles and my feet...
@the-funeral-director FD, what kind of injuries did you sustain, why do you think basketball took more out of you? Do you still feel the pain? Did you have medical procedures done?
Both Ankles torn ligaments...multiple foot injuries...The worst injuries I ever got from football was badly bruised ribs, dislocated fingers and a concussion...baseball gave me a torn rotator cuff and some stitches from getting spiked at 2nd base a couple of times turning a double play...I am 59 now so I am beginning to pay the price for my past transgressions Hahahaha...I have pain on damp cold days but I have found that CBD oil and cream has helped me out a lot...I also see a chiropractor every 2 weeks...In the whole scheme of things I am fortunate cause a lot of my teammates sustained far worse...
