will they declare early next week? That would allow the players that are playing to have all the practice time.

"Bowl games don't matter"
"They're just meaningless"
Notre Dame opted out of their bowl game entirely.
- Cost more to go than it paid
- Don't need the extra practices
- Take my ball and go home
- A show of support for Rutgers
- April fools
- A Troll on the ND Board says bowls don't matter and they took it to an extreme. https://news.uga.edu/internet-troll/
- Out of gold paint for their helmets
- Couldn't field a team after opt outs and transfers
You would think maybe their loyal fans would like to attend a nice bowl in a warm climate. But I agree with SPF, it's #3.
Let them all pay their fines, notre dame, Kansas state and Iowa State. 500000 dollars
If I had my way no team could get in the playoffs unless you finish first or 2nd in your conference. Get 8 conferences and the top 2 of each conferences go to the 16 team playoffs. If the SEC and big 10 are to tough and they whine about it take your butt to another conference that’s easier. If you’re not in a conference the season ends after 12 games.
@jimmy-v should be a million dollar fine and teams get no conference revenue.
They’re predicting a ton of opt outs for both teams in the Pinstripe Bowl.
@psujoe Homer, is it possible to do a 32 team playoff that way just do away with bowl games?
I could cut KS and IS a little slack, they're replacing head coaches. ND on the other hand has no excuse, other than being ass hurt. Hey! Win your games, you get the prize. If not, stop whining.
Notre Dame isn't getting a fine. Those other schools are getting fined by their conference not the NCAA.
I am all for ND to opt out of the next 10 regular seasons.

If the football ships were seeded like the NCAA Wrestling championships are done, ND still wouldnt have gotten in. Bama probably wouldnt have gotten in with 3 losses either. Not sure about BYU, i didnt really follow them and havent taken the time to read their schedule.
Here's the criteria for wrestling seeding:
1. Head to Head competition 25%
2. Quality wins 20%
3. Coaches ranking 15%
4. Results against common opponents 10%
5. RPI* 10%
6. Conference tournament placing 10%
7. Win percentage 10%
* RPI is a bit confusing. Its a computer generated metric that some nerd devised. In layman's terms its your win%, your opponents' win% and your opponents'opponents's win%
So, if someone isnt busy today and is looking for a project; crunch the numbers from the teams that were selected and run them thru the above 7 criteria and get back to us.
I’m just tired of the sitting out thing. Let’s get 32 teams and take the top 32 after the conference championships and where the chips fall, they fall the season over for every other team.
Yes, this can be done. All you have to do is throw enough money at it, seriously.
Imo, based on a quick look, Gruden presented a workable model.
A 32 team championship would mean 5 extra games for 2 teams, 4 extra for 2, 3 extra for 4, 2 extra for 8, and 1 extra for 16. 31 total games.
@psugrad81 I love the bowl season teams playing teams that normally don’t play but if the players don’t want to play may as well try something different. I’m sorry 81, 24 teams that would be 48 teams making the playoffs.
@southern-psu-fan I'd get rid of conference championships all together - can't have some teams sitting at home resting up while others are beating each other up. Change the conferences to 10 team conferences - play everybody once - 9 game conference schedule. No tie breakers needed, conf champ is in playoffs. MAybe need to bump some lowly teams back to FCS, but have what 12 conferences, so 120 teams. Best 12 autobid, next 4 by rankings and SOS.
