You're right! When I checked mine again it was sorted by points, not point per game. Iowa State played more games... my bad!I don't know Roam, the Big 12 stats I saw for the 2024 season showed Iowa St #7 in scoring. In 14 games that season, they scored 435 points (31.1 Avg) which trailed Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, Arizona St, Colorado & BYU. This was some improvement over 2025, but nothing to be excited about IMO.
@roaminglion Enough with "he was a freshman". He was a redshirt freshman and other freshman were playing just as good on other teams.
Why discount the bowl game? Because outside of the CFP all bowls are glorified practices with many players opting out.
I don't see throwing 8 million dollars at a kid for 5 games
Where do you see Grunk getting 8 million for this season? As far as other redshirt freshman playing just as well please tell me who played against the 3 top 10 defensive units in their first 3 starts? This kid Becht could be the 2nd coming of Christ for all I know but from what I see he better significantly improve because this ain't the Big 12 he is playing against...I never got to check out the Blue/White game so I am curious if any of you guys were there and how they looked...Anything less than a 1 loss season and a trip to the B1G championship game and a playoff birth in my mind is a failure of a season considering the schedule they are playing this year...As is always the case time will tell...
@the-funeral-director it wasn’t an actual game. All it was was an open practice and they didn’t show anything they didn’t want on tape for other teams to see.
there really wasn’t any way to grade any particular players performance
@roaminglion when they reported players sitting out i remember on a few sports shows that their opt outs was very misleading because most of the players on the list didn’t play much during the season and some didn’t play at all but regardless that’s part of the game now and we definitely had some of our studs out and we still kicked that ass.
Stop. Clemson had 11 starters miss the game. Half their starting team. It wasn't misleading, half their starting players were not there and almost 20 other players.@roaminglion when they reported players sitting out i remember on a few sports shows that their opt outs was very misleading because most of the players on the list didn’t play much during the season and some didn’t play at all but regardless that’s part of the game now and we definitely had some of our studs out and we still kicked that ass.
The game was not anywhere close to resembling either team during the year.
@roaminglion it’s not what i remember but who cares anyway because players sitting out is part of the game and we kicked the crap out of them.
I remember exactly what southern remembers. Clemson was counting their players out from the beginning of the season. When they said they had 25 guys out they were including guys that were injured in game one not just guys that opted out after the regular season.
My point is who gices a chit about a game with backups in it. I mean, congrats on puffing your chest about beating a team with over 30 players, including 11 starters out?@roaminglion it’s not what i remember but who cares anyway because players sitting out is part of the game and we kicked the crap out of them.
Yay! Our backups beat their backups? Who gives a rip, bowls down matter anymore. Only the playoffs do. It is what it is
@roaminglion We had players out and Clemson had a few out it was a fair game played on the field and we got the win. Players sitting out is part of the game today just like injuries are part of the game or coaches getting fired is part of the game deal with it because the games still have to be played and the games go down in the record books. We don’t get many games a year I like to win as many as possible and the backups are part of the future of the team. IMO all the games matter but that’s just me.
You aren't getting my point. When two teams play with extremely different rosters from the year, it doesn't mean anything other than we won a scrimmage game.@roaminglion We had players out and Clemson had a few out it was a fair game played on the field and we got the win. It's just practice, who cares.
Going forward teams have to prepare for guys getting banged up, coaches getting fired and players sitting out that’s just the facts. The bowl games aren’t scrimmage games because they go down as wins and losses in the record book when scrimmage games don’t. I understand what you’re saying I just don’t agree on the games not meaning anything because what if players don’t want to play the last game of the regular season does that game not mean anything because players sit out? It can happen.
As I have mentioned before these games are not meaningless. They are not what we want but they are not meaningless. They give the teams extra practices that they don't get if they are not invited to a bowl. They give younger players extra practice and the chance to play in a game environment that they may not have had yet. They also give those us who love PSU one last game of the season.
I know they are not what we want. We all want a last game of the season at full strength against a comparable team also at full strength. Those days are gone. You can say the players have lost their faithfulness/dedication to the team/school/teammates. You can also say the maybe they have gotten smart enough not to risk injury and loss of possible draft status.
It seems to me that in this world today nothing matters except for money and prestige.
@psugrad81 the last 5 years usually both teams have guys sitting or a coach might’ve got fired so it’s a fair game imo. Teams have to have guys ready if players can’t go for whatever reason. I believe roam would agree we were all pretty happy during the Clemson game that may have been the best game we played all year the team was jelling. I’d trade the Rutgers, Michigan St and a few other teams for a game with Clemson any time 😂
I didn't say they were meaningless, I said they didn't mean anything beyond practice. As I have mentioned before these games are not meaningless. Practice is obviously meaningful, just not to the point of proving anything as if it's a meaningful representation of your team at full strength. That is my point, winning a bowl game outside of the CFP is not a meaningful win... but it is still useful for practice sure.
