Professional sports is a business. While it may appear that Barkley is being treated poorly by the NY Giants, running backs have a short life span in the NFL. The rules protect the quarterback but running backs are targets to attack. I hope things work out for him but I doubt the Giants will change their position.

The Giants should stand firm, and this coming from a Barkley fan. RBs just aren't worth as much as they used to be.

@roaminglion IMO I believe the RB position will take off in a good way again. When Rogers, Brady, Breeze, Rivers, Manning and a few others come in the NFL they were lighting defenses up so they really didn’t need RB’s to lean on but today I don’t see that many great throwing QB’s like the HOF’s I just mentioned and I’m sure I missed a few. QB’s today want to run and when that happens they’ll get nicked up and the only way to stop that is to have a good running game. I’m not saying todays QB’s can’t throw I’m just pointing out they’re taking a step back from the stud QB’s of the last 20 years. Just my opinion though. I believe the Giants should pay him unless he’s taken a step back. I don’t care how good you are you can take a step back playing in the NFL best athletes in the world imo

I believe he's currently being paid in the top 10 of RBs, there's no reason to pay him more than that

@roaminglion

On top of his salary from the Gints, I bet he makes a lot from NIL on the side!

Saquon & Giants have reached a deal!  Looks like common sense has prevailed.  Wish him luck on having a great season.

Big money goes to quarterbacks, receivers, and defensive backs because of their longevity. Also, pro football has evolved into a passing game.

As Roam said, Barkley makes lots of money endorsing products in the media capital of the world.
