I looked at the NIL Tracker ( https://thesideline.co/nil-tracker/football) and grabbed the screenshot below. Penn State spent $30.5m which is the 22nd highest in the nation. While Ohio State spent $51.5m, they gave a cool $5m Jeremiah Smith and $2.5m to Julian Sayin. Take those 2 out, and the spending gap is $12.5m. Miami is 6th at $47m but they gave $6.5m to Darian Mensah, $2.5m to Jackson Cantwell, $2.0m Malachi Toney, $2.0m to Damon Wilson and $1.5m to Ahmad Moten. Take those 5 players out, and the spending gap between Miami and Penn State is $2m.
$30.5m should buy at least 6 wins ......... if you don't play prevent defense.
Not sure how it fits into the big picture but we have the #1 apparel deal in the country at 30 mill per year.
Getting to the root of our problem, here's looking at you Brother, you washed the lucky T-shirt, didn't you?
I haven't given up on the team, I've emotionally walled myself off. 😏
Oh no, we ain’t giving up we gotta hunker down even more on the MC train because he’s our coach and we’re gonna have him for years to come. The man will get this team championship contenders it’s just going to take a few years but it’s coming baby. I was just hoping to go the Indiana route but that’ll probably never happen again. I’m guilty too because I thought it would work and it didn’t but I do believe we’re good enough to win the next 7 games.
So a good coach is going to coach an FCS talent so well they can get off blocks again D1 guys? No, it's not just about coaching. Talent matters, a lot. You ain't coaching up some kid with HS talent to be D1. They have to have enough talent to be worth a damn.@roaminglion absolutely
@roaminglion Amari Cambell said MC and Danton Lynn didn’t want to pay him fair so he left assuming he’s telling the truth and these dudes up front are who Danton Lynn and MC brought in they could’ve upped the money to flip other players but they didn’t because they thought the guys they were bringing in was good enough. MC got to Penn St late which destroyed the recruiting class yes but he had time to flip guys and keep Amari Cambell. These dudes were talking about here the 3 up front and Amari are just fudge ups decisions by MC and da ton Lynn
Confused, so Amari is on record as saying he wasn't getting paid what he is worth. And then there seems to be a record of what he is getting paid and it is little more and with a former coach. So that coach didn't find him worth much more.
Lets be honest, if my company is failing, I am not worth much am I? I am part of the team. So for all the Amari talk...I judge it doesn't matter. Bigger picture is that we need good players that fit our payroll and we didn't have time to get them. From a business standpoint why would you throw $ at an asset that wouldn't make much difference to the bottom line? At the time it seemed we thought we had a chance and it might have made a difference. My guess is that Amari was playing the JF bidding war game. Remember the way JF and his agent played PSU? Today I don't think it would have made a difference but I agree LB #2 would be nice.
The B12 is like a MAC Conference now that the SEC and B10 took the pickings.

Amari Cambell is on or near the same playing field as Rojas and if you’ve watched the other LB’s on the team they’re getting killed so we definitely needed Amari Cambell and a few 100k kept that from happening assuming Amari Cambell is telling the truth and that one mess up has been devastating to the team it’s very possible we could be undefeated right now because Amari is a stud. IMO MC and Danton Lynn thought the LB’s from iowa St would be just as good and that bothers me assuming I’m right and I do believe I’m right. BTW Amari Cambell and Tony Rojas would be good enough to stop the wing-t on the field at the same time and both would also be good enough to stop the Wisconsin QB from running around like he did. This shit shouldn’t have happened IMHO
I’d bet both Danton and MC are kicking themselves in the ass right now not paying Amari Cambell. If it wasn’t their first year this mistake is unforgivable. In sports some mistakes are forgivable and some ain’t and usually this one isn’t but I’ll let it slide because it’s their first year. 😂
Yes, and then he signed with Tennessee for about the same he would have gotten here. The good news for the Meatchicken game is that Underwood will be starting at QB!! I was worried they’d be starting the backup.
I think they couldn't care less about some LB who would not have made a significant difference. I am certain they are kicking themselves about not being able to get better lineman.I’d bet both Danton and MC are kicking themselves in the ass right now not paying Amari Cambell. Who give a flying you know what about 1 LB when the DL is terrible
Your notion that 1 LB would magically fix the defense is laughable.

Yea but we all saw what happened when Rojas went out last year.
Did FD fall off the wagon?
Yes... with Ameri Campbell still playing. LmaoI think they couldn't care less about some LB who would not have made a significant difference. Rojas was/is the difference maker there, not Campbell.
- Tackles: Led the team with 103 total tackles (and 769 defensive snaps).
- Tackles for Loss & Sacks: Added 9.5 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks.
- Postseason Honors: Named All-Big Ten third-team (and honorable mention by the league's coaches).
This is what Amare Cambell did last year. I’m not sure Rojas is better that Amare Cambell but both dudes are studs! Them are close to Puz and Conner numbers. Dude should’ve been at the top to stay
I know where this one’s headed !!
@psujoe I’m not saying he’s on the same level as Puz and Conner but he had a very good year and his numbers were awesome. The dude gets to the football.
LMAO - So the defense went to chit when Rojas went down, but somehow Campbell is a stud who could make a difference.. even though he didn't make a difference when we had a much better line last year?

Okkkkaaaayyyyyyyyy
@roaminglion the defense is shit right now what I’m telling you is it won’t be shit if we had another stud LB’r. I’ve said many times, when you have 2 stud LB’s they get to the football you can hide a lot of flaws.
I'm just going to disagree, you'te just looking to blame MC any way you can. 1 LB who was 3rd team honorable mention last year is somehow now a 1st round stud in your mind and we'd be a top 10 defense if only he didn’t leave.@roaminglion the defense is shit right now what I’m telling you is it won’t be shit if we had another stud LB’r. Come on man.
According to your own statement about how a defense stinks if not ranked at the top... Campbell has been on a defense that stunk in 2023, a defense that stunk in 2024, a defense that stunk in 2025, and now a defense that stinks in 2026. But sure, he'd make the difference. Seems legit.
To be clear, I am not saying Amare is a bad players. To the contrary, I think he is a very good LB. However, I vehemently disagree with your opinion that a better LB would solve or hide the problems with our defense.
One LB is not going to solve a DL that gets pushed around, doesn't get any pressure on the QB, and can't shed blocks.
@roaminglion I put up his numbers from last year you must have missed ‘em.
im a MC fan I believe he’s the right man for the job but he messed up not paying Amari Cambell.
I didn’t say he was a first round pick and I never said he’d make our defense top 10 I said we would beat NW and Wisconsin.
I know 1 good LB’r won’t fix the problems up front but 2 good LB’s will get you wins against teams like Wisconsin, Michigan and NW. USC might still be a problem but we definitely had a better chance. From what I see our 3 guys up front ain’t getting pushed around they just can’t get off the blocks to make tackles but another stud LB’r running around will help stop the run.
You are in fantasy land if you think 1 LB somehow makes us magically win a game we lost by 21 points, only scoring 13... and got completely manhandled up front.I know 1 good LB’r won’t fix the problems up front but 2 good LB’s will get you wins against teams like Wisconsin, Michigan and NW. What kind of stuff are you on?
@roaminglion Diet Coke it’s about stopping the wing-t and 2 good LB’s would’ve gotten it done against NW. the safety also could’ve come up to help that’s if Danton Lynn could see what I see. Now if it’s Ohio State 2 good LB’s probably won’t be good enough but we’re talking about NW. I tried to tell you the other LB’s were gettin killed.
