It seems to me the following needs to be taken care of the remainder of this year and going in to next year:
- Cut MC some slack; he came in with no real supply of goods in the cubboards,
- He has to clean up his in game decision making,
- Pick a scheme and run it, and name your #1 and 2 RBs, thats a HC call,
- Play the younger guys and see what's there, if you're telling me nothing is there, that's a world of hurt,
- Get the wallet out and pay:
- Portal O and D lines to fix and build depth, and depth through recruiting (that takes 2-3 years for line play),
- Portal WR, with proven HS WRs who have demonstrated at the highest level, that's a position that can start as a freshman,
- Portal QB, HS recruit if he's played at a high level consistently, and fits your scheme
- MC may find he will have to change his scheme based on the players he can get in today's game
- MC has to go through the stages of group build, and he is going to show whether he is a start-up, growth, or status quo coach.
Imo, 3 years pretty gives a pretty good idea of what you have as a HC, team, and AD (can't forget that pesky position)
Somebody didn’t want to pay Amari Cambell that’s why he left so I don’t know if they’re going to get the check book out.
I agree... the one question mark is can Matt Campbell recruit? We will see, this cycle (portal included) will show us.It seems to me the following needs to be taken care of the remainder of this year and going in to next year:

I will never blame a player leaving on a "checkbook" when that player followed a coach. Which Cooper did.Somebody didn’t want to pay Amari Cambell that’s why he left so I don’t know if they’re going to get the check book out.
At that point it is clear that staying or following the coach was a big factor... no simply money
@roaminglion Amari Cambell left because Penn St didn’t want to pay him. I agree about leaving for more money I don’t blame him at all.
Right, just a complete coincidence he left and followed his DC@roaminglion Amari Cambell left because Penn St didn’t want to pay him. I agree about leaving for more money I don’t blame him at all.
Amare Campbell says right in his farewell post that he’s not being paid enough in NIL from Penn State.
I copied that.
I just found out about this shit with Amari Cambell and Penn St not wanting to pay him in the last week that’s why I’ve been pissed off the last few days especially with the defense struggling. 2 future NFL LB’s running around would’ve definitely made a difference against NW and Wisconsin so yes I do think it made a difference.
SOURCE: Amare Campbell is upset with Penn State staff and for good reason. They offered him $400k less than what they gave Tony Rojas, who is coming off an ACL injury. Campbell has been a much better, more reliable, and more consistent player throughout his entire career vs Rojas.
After knowing this why should I have any confidence that MC didn’t do other Penn St players the same way because I believe he wanted his guys from iowas St
Remember Roam, we got a LB’r from Iowa St just like we gotta QB. You gotta connect the dots both players and a few others were told, we want you but we really don’t. They let Amari Cambell walk because they didn’t want to pay him 400,000 more money. That’s a big time fudge up and you know it. I didn’t know this happened until I heard a dude talking about it on a sports show so I looked it up and it was true. This shit cost us 2 wins already maybe all 3 because I believe Amari Cambell is a bad ass LB’r heck we probably lose to Rutgers if not for Amari Cambell. Smh
When somebody does something that keeps Penn St from winning football games gets on my fudging shit list real quick!
And yet he's making about the same as was reportedly offered to him here.Amare Campbell says right in his farewell post that he’s not being paid enough in NIL from Penn State.

Before he left he made a comment something along the line of “ he’s not signing for less than he’s worth” which made a lot of people think PSU low balled him.
Whatever guys were offered it was clear that MC ga e the ISU guys preferred status.
If we let Amare walk so we could sign #8 that was a major eff up. That guy is just plain bad and we have no one on the roster to replace him with.
yes, and then he signed for 700k which was close to what he was being offered here. So I doubt his sincerityRight, just a complete coincidence he left and followed his DC@roaminglion Amari Cambell left because Penn St didn’t want to pay him. At the end of the day everyone knows what our weak link is on the defense... and it aint the LBs
...and he's not the reason NW ran for 450 yards. Everyone with eyes knows that's our DL.@roaminglion #8 is bad roam and real bad lol
The D'line flat out sucks, time to get off the LB's.
There is not team with eliite LBs that survive without a D'line.
No different than building a house without a foundation wall!
@roaminglion #8 was gettin killed in the NW game. I believe if Amari Cambell was on the team the Wing-T wouldn’t have worked because 2 good LB’s could get to the ball. #8 is terrible and doesn’t need to be on the field unless it’s mop up duty.
Yes they do 61 but #8 is just as bad.
At the end of the day everyone knows what our weak link is on the defense... and it aint the LBs
Yes it is obvious the D’line sucks but #8 may be the worst player on the team.
Me watching the DL I don’t think they get run over they just can’t get off blocks to get to the ball. They might get pushed around a few plays which most guys do including Rojas but Rojas gets to the ball most of the time when the DL doesn’t. They can’t get off blocks and imo that’s coaching.
Getting off blocks to get to the wall is kind of the point of defense.Me watching the DL I don’t think they get run over they just can’t get off blocks to get to the ball. @southern-psu-fan Getting to the root of our problem, here's looking at you Brother, you washed the lucky T-shirt, didn't you?
I haven't given up on the team, I've emotionally walled myself off. 😏
