of those telling you to wear a mask.
I just heard a doc who said if we ALL would have worn a mask when this first broke back in March, we would probably be all but done with this virus. That is how much they have learned the past 4 months. There is a reason they are using the term Novel. They are learning more and more every single day. If you are waiting for a vaccine, good luck with that wait.....I give it until this time next summer before we see one available for all. And even then, they are estimating 25% of the people will not even elect to get vaccinated.
For me, it's not how do we get rid of it, it is how do we learn to live with it. I don't see this thing going away anytime soon. My hope is we find a way to treat it so that we can all get it and not fear it. I think it is only a matter of time before we all get exposed. My reason for this statement is because I now have friends who are doing their best to stay safe and have now been diagnosed with the virus. ALL of them have had minor symptoms but felt horrible for several weeks. Two of them had lunch with two friends, outside dining, followed social distancing guidelines and then bang! All four of them got it and passed it along to their parents. In less than 24 hours, they went from NO virus to 8 of them being affected.
Be safe, wear a mask! It's all we got right now!
My opinion is self quarantining, wearing a mask, hand washing and constant disinfecting is the only true way to knock this thing down...It's an airborne virus that is very highly contagious and as a result the only way to knock this thing down is to quarantine the country for about 6 weeks...We should have done this back in February...Again this isn't a political thing but a matter of health and death...I am convinced we are gonna lose 200,000 people to this virus by September 1st if not sooner at the current rates of infection...
Here is something to ponder on. We lost 675,000 US Citizens to the 1918 flu over about 1 year:
- they had no internet or TV to get live news to keep them informed ( tv was invented in 1927 if I am correct ) no team of Covid19 docs like we have today, limited pharmaceutical drugs and NO ANTIBIOTICS to treat secondary infections from the virus, limited nurses ( most where caring for WWI soldiers) very small research team of medical professionals ( most research/opinions to combat the flu was based on the late 1890 flu outbreak ) no modern medical equipment/respirators, most lived in crowded spaces and most practiced horrible hygiene:
You predict 200K deaths by 9/1.....that is almost 1/3 in 6 months compared to the 1918 flu. And we have ALL of the above mentioned items covered TODAY.
What the heck would it look today if we were living like we did in 1918? With everything we have available to us today, we are probably going to flirt with 200K deaths ( and I think it will be more like 400K by years end).
How did the 1918 pandemic end? NON PHARMACEUTICAL INTERVENTIONS just like most are preaching to us to practice today.
Just wear a mask for now. Hell, most of you here probably look better with one anyhow!
mask didn’t help the mayor of Atlanta and she always wore hers. I’ve got mine I’m just not sure it helps but why take a chance.

Here's the thing Southern, yea it probably did help. Here's why... it prevented her from spreading it to other people on a greater scale, probably a much larger scale. That's why you wear a mask, TO PROTECT OTHERS.
She probably got it from someone not wearing a mask. That's exactly why people are told to wear them, not so much for protecting yourself... but mainly for mitigating the spread to others.
