Think abou this... it's the 3rd time in the last 6 seasons that we were either beating Ohio State in the 4th quarter, or down by 4 points. We lost all 3 games. Had we won them, we likely would have been in the playoff each of those years
If we had beaten OSU:
- 2017 - 1 loss, likely Big Ten champs, we'd have been in over Alabama
- 2019 - 1 loss, likely Big Ten champs, we'd have been in over Oklahoma (We were ahead of them in the rankings before losing to OSU)
- 2022 - 1 loss, season over, and LSU likely to lose the SEC Chmpionship. We'd essentially be waiting to see if USC lost, but now OSU will once again get that and not us.
Man, just can't get over that hump.
Roam, what have you seen that I haven’t to think we’d ever get in over Oklahoma, Alabama or Ohio St. it’s one excuse after another excuse keeping us out. Even when we beat Ohio State on the field and win the big 10 we get kept out. 2016 we kept getting better when Ohio St didn’t and it was supposed to be about the 4 best teams taking teams with the best records was what we did in the 50’s-90’s. Penn St has to go undefeated to get in the playoffs brother I promise you that. What you posted is the way it should be but when it’s Penn St trying to get in you can forget it.

I’m a huge USC and TCU fan right now.
I was listening to the USC game on the way home tonight. The commentators have NO doubt that a 2 loss USC team - if they win their conference championship - will jump Ohio State. They said there is no possible way they would put a 1 loss Ohio State team ahead of 2 a loss USC conference champ. I guess they they forgot how Ohio State made it to the playoffs in 2016. They are hanging their hat on the SOS vs Ohio State's as the final reason why this will happen.
And then there is Saban saying Bama should be in. They have two losses on the road, in the final minutes against top 10 teams. Guess HE forgot about the Texas and Ole Miss near misses!
All I know is Penn State is going #8 unless they jump Kansas State over Penn State!!
