@roaminglion you may be right roam and if you are right Penn St better come up with a lot of money. That may be the route they’re taking because we’ve got our team for this year and it’s going to be good. I still don’t like the System lol
IMO if we're talking about coming up with tons of cash and winning no matter what the price... our priorities were never about education in the first place. I remember when everyone waxed poetic about us putting education as a high priority... those same people now only talk about handing kids millions.

I was never for paying players but if you’re gonna do it why do it half ass if you have the money like we allegedly do?
Not me. Never was and never will be. I wouldn't give them one rent cent above their scholie. I know I'm a dinosaur, but principles are principles!
In all seriousness, college football will never be the same again, period! From year to year we won’t recognize the roster, kids are free agents and will go to the highest bidder. Take PS qb for example. We do not have a quarterback for next year, will have to buy one from the portal. If he gets injured again, likely for qbs then we have nothing and the season is over. There will be 15+ elite teams with huge nil money and the rest of the teams will be just average. I don’t know if PSU will continue to pour really big money from the alums. Notre Dame has eliminated a group of other sports to fund fb and bb. Others are following.
The feel of college football as we know it is over, it as become class aaa professional league feeding the nfl. Hard to root for “your” team anymore with little to no loyalty to the school from the players.
I’m done lamenting!
@phantom-punch-65 come on back Ali anytime and watch the fight between George Foreman and Ron Lyle and let me know what you think.
@phantom-punch-65 Notre Dame has not eliminated any sports, they just decreased spending in some. That's very different
@roaminglion Damn it Roam, you always let facts get in the way of a good story. 🤣
Norte dame reduced funding and scholarships from 17 sports. If that’s not eliminated then why don’t you ask the kids who won’t get scholarships how they feel. Read the news releases rather than flippantly replying.
The Lyle fight was good. Don’t know how Foreman could get up. Best fight I ever watched was the Thrilla in Manila.
I don't need to ask them, regardless of how it "feels" to them the sport is not eliminated.Norte dame reduced funding and scholarships from 17 sports. Your feelings aren't fact.
Interesting article. Thanks, BT. So what it boils down to is he traded in tomorrow for today!
@rip Yep, sounds that way. See how well Grunk fits the VT offense. 'Cause we know Franklin won't change the offense to fit Grunk.
Ole southern down in PC living it up eating steak, shrimp, oysters and chasing it down with a little Bud Light baby and then I read we lost 2 recruits today when I come in to get ready for supper. I just don’t know what to think about recruiting today when you can just go get players and pay them. I’m sure MC knows what he’s doing. One thing I do know is it’s so sweet to live in the USA 🇺🇸 🦞🍺 How sweet it is 😁
That's why I don't get too excited about recruiting. Commitment doesn't mean sheet unless it refers to an institution, lol!
@rip You got it Bob! When they actually take the field in Blue & White, we know they'll be there for at least one game.
Penn State has added defensive end Elijah Guertin to its 2027 recruiting class.
Listed at 6-foot-5, 250 pounds, Guertin earned an offer from Penn State back in April following an unofficial visit with Matt Campbell and his coaching staff. At the time, the Bishop Hendricken prospect had earned a handful of Power Four scholarship offers, including Arkansas, Illinois, Michigan State, Rutgers and Wisconsin. The Razorbacks and Scarlet Knights primarily recruited him as a tight end, although most schools liked him as an edge rusher.
BORING !!! This has to be the most uneventful official visit period of the last 15 years at least.
@psujoe it’s a different day in recruiting Homer and I don’t like it either.
Anyone that thinks our recruiting issues are nothing to worry about are only fooling themselves. As long as it makes you feel better keep telling yourself "we'll make up for it in the portal" or "recruitng isn't the same today" but the reality is that we have a serious problem and it's not going to get better any time soon.
"While the Penn State Nittany Lions did make an addition to the defensive line this week, it was not the one they were truly focused on. Instead, five star edge rusher Abraham Sesay did the same thing almost every in-state recruit has done to the Nittany Lions: go elsewhere. That elsewhere? Notre Dame. Sesay announced his commitment yesterday even before scheduling an official visit with the Nittany Lions. What makes it even worse is that this is not the first time the Fighting Irish have swooped in and landed a top prospect from the state of Pennsylvania."
I don't worry about it because I can't control it and we haven't played a game yet with Campbell. Getting all worked up about something before we even see the product he puts on the field seems pointless IMO.Anyone that thinks our recruiting issues are nothing to worry about are only fooling themselves. I just don’t see the Iowa State blueprint working in the B1G and not being a player in recruiting the top talent in your home state is never a good look.
