To address the comparison of nil, rankings and recruiting of the football teams, I picked one “random “ example. For the most part they are very similar.

The only issue I have with a salary cap is this one...You are going back to the old way of doing business where the money will flow but it will be all done in the dark...This will harken back to the money handshake days only on steroids...We all know what is going to go on...That is my only reservation about doing a salary cap...We all know the big time programs will be able to skirt this without impunity...Just look at the sneaker scandal in college basketball...A couple of sacrificial lambs (coaches) got any punishment and it was really a slap on the wrist as most of them if not all of them are coaching at big time schools again...The 2 biggest offenders and coaches Self of Kansas won a national championship that year and coached as if nothing happened and of course the sacredest cow of all of them Coach K of Duke coached until he decided to retire without a blip on the screen...I am sort of torn over the salary cap thing...Cause I know it's going to go back to the old way and the sacred cow schools with the brands too big to fail will get away with paying these players in the dark...
For me, I think NIL can be great. I think that athletes should be able to make money on their name, image or likeness. I do not, however, believe the universities should have anything to do with that money at all. If the athlete or their agent or parents or ..., can get money for doing a commercial or anything else that's fine. But the university should not be in the business of going out and getting that money. Of course this would put the NCAA back in the job of policing the system. The only way they have of policing is when someone complains or someone informs them about a violation.

Plus this type of stuff is harder today than it was in the 70s or 80s. So many eyes and digital footprints to see.

Remember when they DID go after UNC for fake classes back in the 2010's? Guess what happened? Sued and lost.
Michigan? Through the whole cheating scandal they consistently threated lawsuits agaibst the NCAA & Big Ten. Eventually a settlement was agreed to (slap on the wrist). Michigan wouldn't have felt threatened enough to publicly talk about suing if they felt the NCAA would just be lenient.
This is exactly why anti-trust exemptions are needed. The NCAA actually could go after these schools without dealing with BS lawsuits. They would have teeth. Also, no one school would matter, since all most agreement could be pooled together. In that respect no teams are really worth more than others.
I heard Georgia doesn’t get stupid with paying the players they’re kind of cheap compared to Ohio State and Oregon.

Getting all the Iowa St players might be the reason Penn St isn’t keeping pace because they don’t have too because short term the players we got from Iowa St is better than paying a bunch of unproven freshmen. I’m just guessing though trying to connect the dots. We better win this year.

I understand what you are saying Roam but they managed to go after the coach at Arizona and got him fired...Why didn't they go after Self or the rat faced phony from Duke? Also what I know about that situation I got first hand from a hall of fame coach who won multiple national championships...Arizona was knee deep in it but so was kansas, Duke, Carolina, kentucky and one other big name school that escapes me...The net was wide and there were lots of schools who were involved but the big money was with those schools I named...They went as far as to directly negotiate with the recruits and steer them to these schools...It was a real cesspool...ironically the 1st tournament after all of this went down Self and kansas won the national title and you would have thought that son of a bitch was a choir boy and ready to sit at the right hand of God the way they carried on about the cheating scumbag...That was no small deal either...Some of those big named players were reported to have received as much as 300k and 100k deals were not uncommon...Our country was founded as a nation of laws and as you can see that you can have all the laws in the world and you can still cheat and steal to the tune of billions of dollars in spite of laws there to stop it...My personal opinion is this is a fools errand...It is up to the universities and programs to reel this in but as you well know that ain't happening...I don't want a cap on anything...Let it all out in the open for all to see...Trust me those programs who lack discipline will fiscally go under so that is how you police it...the programs that are in over their heads will go under financially and that is how you stop this...To me this is just a ruse for these sacred cow programs to cheat...Right now they can't cause everyone can spend and it is out in the open...Funny how I told all of you the SEC were frauds and if they opened this up they would be exposed as such...Been 3 years in a row now that they haven't sniffed a national title...Funny how it all came to an end the minute EVERYBODY could pay their players...those Dodge Chargers just didn't have the same effect on a recruit as they used to...Having a booster buy a house for the kids parents just didn't have the same power it once did...Believe me...A salary cap ain't gonna solve this...No law is going to solve this...the money will go from being out in the open to going back to the dark as it was in the past...I am not a fan of this at all...

When you see what Penn St has wasted the last 3 years it’s understandable for us to be a little nervous but DA and James Franklin are gone and this is a totally different thing going on at Penn St. New era at Penn St and I’m gettin more cocky by the day I’m loving what I’m hearing. Most of the dudes on the Ga Tech forum believe Penn St got the best new head coach this year. I love the players but I don’t get to attached to them because it gets in the way of winning if they ain’t got it and that’s what I seen happen the last 3 years. Just win baby!
I know there’s a few on here that want to choke the shit out of me right now but my attitude of how we need to win is the only thing that works in today’s college football. You gotta get with the program or you get left behind.

@southernpsufan...Far from it brother...I love the heat...Currently 92 here in New York...I spent almost 30 years of my life in the southeast and am going to retire to Mexico...I hate the cold and the snow...it's just that certain sports should be played in certain conditions and football ain't meant to be played in 80 degree weather...It is meant to be played in the cold and in the elements...Baseball, Golf and Tennis are warm weather sports...As the good book says...Ecclesiastes 3:1-8...To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven...For you biblical experts out there that isn't the whole chapter and verses but you get the point...I just need to have access to lots of water and I am fine in the heat...
@BeenThereII...The correlation between spending between 1 and 2 billion dollars on stadium and facility renovations and NIL spending is about putting out a winning product so people fill those seats in that stadium...What's the sense in putting all that money into all those renovations when the stadium will be half empty if the team don't perform up to expectations...I don't like it but the reality is if you don't spend on players you ain't going to win...There are outliers out there from time to time but I am sure there is a real correlation between NIL spending and making the CFP...You can't expect to compete with the Ohio State's and Oregon's when they are outspending you almost 2 to 1...If Pipe's reports are accurate (a big IF) but if so and we are 6th or 7th in conference NIL that doesn't bode well for the program...Just my opinion...Time will tell and I hope I am wrong but to me why bother putting out a 1 to 2 billion dollar expenditure if you aren't going to be proactive in bringing in the best players to help you compete for a national title to fill the stadium...I am not going to lie...I am absolutely shocked at how large the gap is between our NIL number and Ohio State...No wonder they are losing all the big time in state recruits...
