Penn State's non-conference schedule will be against Nevada, Virginia Tech, and San Jose State.
You can view the entire schedule over at the blog.

Virginia Tech should be a good early test for the Lions.
That's more like it, a good VT team hopefully. If they are highly ranked we will get the benefit, if not everyone will scream about a weak OOC.
I’d rather play Pitt than stinking Nevada and San Jose State, gets some SEC and big 12 teams or play more conference games, let’s get some big dawgs on the schedule?
I'd much rather play some big name teams too. Regional teams would be great to see like West Virginia but throw in some PAC12 and SEC teams too. I know the coaches love the cupcakes at the beginning of the season and want to save it for the BIG10 play but the fans don't want to pay for these crappy games.
Non football complaint...it is driving me nuts I can't resize my thumbnail picture so it isn't cutting it off.
I agree Mills, we should play Pitt every year and play another power 5 conference team, if you want to start the season off against Nevada that’s fine but let’s get some big games after that, only 1 cupcake. Glad you made it over buddy.
No way should we play 5b unless it's 2 for 1. They use us, ND or WVU as the way to draw a crowd. 5b can rot. For the most part the folks in Pittsburgh hate us.
I am not understanding your 5b reference here ??? Could you please explain?
In 2015, a recruit (Christian Colon) was listing the schools he was considering and listed 1. Penn State
2. UNC Chapel Hill
3. Maryland
4. UCLA
5. Syracuse
**5B) Pitt
Regarding Pitt:
I'd like to play them every year if they ever got an on campus stadium and could fill the seats. I don't like the concept of playing them simply so they can fill their stadium. IMO when they chose Heinz Field, they dropped any hope of being an elite program in today's world. Not many recruits want to play 45 minutes from their campus in front of a half filled stadium in cold weather.
Miami gets away with it because it's Miami. Players like the weather, atmosphere, etc. But Pittsburgh? No dice.
I like having the rivalry, but it just feels unbalanced
Navyjag had to explain it to me to BOB lol
Wow Southern, what time do you get up in the morning. I thought my 5:15 was early. It must have something to do with living around Atlanta. I live in Alpharetta.
Lol I drive a truck so different times, I live in Temple
That makes my case for 11 conference games, get rid of these gimme games and play 11 conference games and one tough OOC game. If rather play Wisconsin that Akron?
