Frodo, the Nostradamus of Penn State football, makes the following Penn State predictions for this year's Cotton Bowl:

1) Penn State will have a more balanced running attack, featuring "Downtown" Journey Brown and "Bring on the Pain" Noah Cain.  Each will have about 75 years for the game.

2) Clifford will only run 5 times from scrimmage since Brown and Cain will be the focus.

3) Penn State will supplement the run game with a balanced passing attack featuring Freiermuth, Hamler, Bowers and (surprise) some Dotson.

4) Tyler Bowen will go "bat shit crazy" with the offense as he tries to win the OC job for 2020.  Trick plays, reverses etc.

5) Likewise, Pry will go "bat shit crazy" with the "D".  Lots of zone blitzs and pressure from the "D" line.

6) DE Shaka Toney will have 2 sacks and several important stops on runs.

7) ESPN will misspell "Freiermuth's" name when showing a TD catch.

8) Jordan Stout will kick a 58 yard FG at the end of the first half.

9) Joey Porter Jr. will have an important interception near the end of the game.

10) The Shandigaff bar in State College will be offering 50 cent "stouts and porters" in celebration of items #9 and #10 following the game.

Penn State 42, Memphis 28

Tyler is still game OC...  He can still go bat shit crazy.  It's not like he has anything to lose, a great showing and PSU could lose him as TE coach after the bowl game.

What is the O/U on how many 3rd or 4th downs and long (more than 8 yards) given up?

@roaminglion

I’m hoping for at least  2 years because James Franklin is losing coaches every year but that’s a good thing because it usually means you’re winning and other programs want winning coaches.

Likely true but maybe his fondness of Happy Valley will be so great he will want to stay forever! 🤞

It will be a tight game for the 1st half.  2nd half adjustments will slow down Memphis , keep them off balance. My prediction,  Penn State 45- 21

Thank you.  I'm not always right though.  I always face up to it .

I think Frodo left out one thing.  Memphis is a passing offense. PSU's secondary can not stop that. Any team that has not recognized that all you have to do on third or even fourth is throw the ball for a high likelihood of success has not been scouting at all.  Memphis will march up and down the field unless the D line can get a LOT of GOOD pressure.  Maybe a pick or two if that happens. I like to feel we can do it but if it's close we have not demonstrated an ability to put games away but rather a propensity to allow them to slip away.
