It's PSU sports related, but more for all sports so I put this in the water cooler. For those of you who follow the sports outside of the typical revenue generators of men's football and basketball, has NIL changed the landscape? Or are their worries of it happening? I love to cheer on the PSU wrestlers, hockey team, volleyball, etc. etc. etc. but admit I know next to nothing about those sports. I do see examples of that gymnast from LSU getting NIL money, and Caitlyn Clark from Iowa Basketball as well... but those seem like extreme outliers in their sports rather than the standard.
My thoughts are primarily with wrestling and ice hockey, due to each having a decent sized domestic professional league. Well wrestling not so much a league as a common transition to UFC type leagues (I think). Are those guys starting to pull in money? Are players more likely to go into college instead of the minor leagues in hockey now that they could get paid?
Just wondering, hoping someone who knows about it is willing to share their thoughts. Thanks!
My thoughts. You will always have whiners and winners in sports.
Roam, you always take the time to answer questions for me and I wish I could help you here but I just don’t know. Not a lot of traffic on this side maybe someone on the football forum knows because I’d like to know too. Man I’ll go a week maybe longer looking at the wrestling and basketball forum. I need to check ‘em out more often like I do the water cooler lol
