RBY 3 takedowns in 30 seconds to end the first.  I'm thinking 'boy that's dumb to release him with so little time in the period'...and he gets the third.  Barely got the tech fall.

I DVR'd it but haven't watched it yet. I heard the officiating was horrendous.

I did the exact same thing.  Hoping to watch it tomorrow evening.  My brother pretty much filled me in but I'll still watch it.  He also said that the officiating was pretty bad. No consistency.  He said Nick Lee got hit for stalling.  Nick Lee??  Stalling??

@lakerie some bad stalling calls mostly against PSU.  I don't remember any other bad calls.  Maybe my blue tinted glasses but stall calls are confusing at times.  They are obvious when trying to runout the clock with the lead but at times they consider too short a time period.  One guy has been doing all the work and then for a short period he doesn't do much and he gets the warning.  At times it seems both should get a warning at the same time, especially in the first period when they are both dancing.

Keeping the action moving is good for the sport (entertainment/watchability) and good for the Cael/PSU style.

Edsel wrestled well and Beard had a good match.  The official cost Beard a chance for the upset with a stall call.

Baraclaugh had a close match against a #5.  Almost got the takedown as time ran out to win it.

Beau had trouble escaping again.

Kirk dominated but not enough to move up in the rankings

Yea the stall against Lee was bad.  Lee must have thought 'don't you know who I am?'  It wasn't running out the match, it was first period.

Edsel had a single leg trip takedown the official didn't award even though the opponent had both hands on the mat and Edsel had control.  The ref let the opponent stand up and get returned before he gave the takedown

Manville got dominated.  I have a hard time seeing that he would be good in Greco.

Brooks was not nice to Venz, dominated him today.

One of the stall calls pissed off the PSU wrestler.  He was very aggressive for the next 30 seconds.

Again, I don't mean to be disrespectful to Manville. He's been in the room a long time and it would be hard to think his work in the room isn't as hard as anyone else looking for a place in the line up. He's been asked to fill in at weights 1, sometimes twice heavier than his normal competion weight, going against highly seeded opponents. He is definitely a highly valued part of Cael's team. Even at 174 he bulges a bit from his singlet and doesn't have that "cut" look most wrestlers have. From what I saw against OSU, he can't protect his legs against attacks that even the youngest  Jr. High schooler knows (like a sprawling).... and I get he is a Greco guy going all upper body but he was a heralded hs prospect at Wyoming Seminary with tons of folkstyle experience.

Manville bulges and isn't cut?

@roaminglion Though I never had a "man" crush on him, he does put the "man" in Manville. (that was pretty funny Roam)

@lakerie I think you hit it, he can't protect his legs at all.  He especially can't protct them once he is tired.  He is neither quick nor strong.  Maybe he is wrestling up, maybe he is covering weights 'for the team'.  But the knee jerk perception from an outsider is that he isn't putting in the time and/or he doesn't have it.

I guess he could be slow because he is heavier than the weight he should be wrestling but he isn't living up to his star rating?

Seems Greco skills should transfer better.  At this point I'm not feeling he is a future All American at PSU.

I just watched his match with Labriola.  Not only does he give his legs up, he wasnt even cutting off Lab's angles or matching his level changes.  Something's amiss here, not sure what it is but the eye of the tiger definitely isnt there.

Also keep in mind that Mason is one hell of a nice guy.  Good teammate, hard worker....excellent student athlete.  At one time was in ROTC, not sure if he still is.  All that and he can probably kick all of our collective asses at any given day or time.

If we're gonna start posting childish memes and jokes about him, let me know and I'll be gone.

@thepakid I made fun of lakeerie's post, not him. If it came across otherwise that's my bad I guess.

That's all it is PAKid, he's joking with me....nothing more. I watched MM's demeaner off the Labriola match and he was fast to shake his hand and nod to a good match.

One of my bosses once said something like "he'd make a nice neighbor but he's not my shortstop".  There are 'utility infielders' on teams.

Anyway, what else did you see?  I thought Edsel, Beard and Baraclough did well.

To your point I thought Baraclough did nice job vs. #5 Robb but never the outcome never really uncertain. That said, I think we see Baraclaough at 157 from hear on out. Edsel did well against a N backup. I give Bartlett a lot of props but he is obviously too small for 149, but he will slide in quite nicely at 141 next year.

We always put up scenes of funny movies to play around. I say we, I still am trying to figure that one out  but I get a kick out of ‘em anyway lol. Roam might get on somebody’s butt every now and then but he’s never made fun of anybody in a mean hateful way.
