These cats are coaching like they did a Vandy. Penn State doesn't need TRICK plays against teams like Indiana. If they do, then ELITE status is not in their cards!
I am not saying fire these guys, I am saying somebody needs to challenge them. JF has has ALL the answers after the game....he needs them during the game!
There was NO call for what we all witnessed again today! Indiana is not very good at all.
We won the game brother. Cold road game coming off 2 losses and we won, I’ll take it. The drops and penalties do bother me though and I don’t know what’s wrong with our punter because he’s struggling when we need a good kick.

Lol, all that matters to me is winning baby, some people would rather look good and lose than look bad and win. Just win the game and go on to Iowa. I’m getting a little worried about Michigan because they are starting to click. I told everybody nothing was wrong with Michigan except bad QB play. He looks like he’s fixed that problem. Bad QB play makes the whole team look bad. Of course we need to beat Iowa first lol

Just finished watching the game a few hours behind ya'll - wow, one of the worst coaching jobs I've even seen from a Penn State Football team. Is it Rahne?? Is it Franklin?? Is it all the new coaches on staff not on the same page with each other??? Yes a win is a win, but normally teams get better as the season goes on - they are regressing IMO. Sorry I missed the Game Day Live chat, but didn't get back in town till 5ish.
A buddy complained to me yrs ago about a boring win by my favorite team...to which I replied, Im well past the age I need excitement...just give me the W..
UM is eminently beatable..Patterson is a better QB than the guy who started the season..but still far from overwhelming, doesnt scare me at all..

Dude this staff has been exposed for what it is and it ain't good! Franklin is a blowhard who doesn't have a clue and only hopes he can hire good assistants.Sadly his current crop of assistants are as worthless as an elephant in a minefield and Franklin has been lost since Moorhead and Gattis departed.

The coaching staff could be the demise of Franklin. His selections have been questionable, Corley and Galiano. He is loyal to the guys who came from Vandy. Comments are dead on “Elite” and the team is playing worse that playing better. Indiana is not a good team to win by 5 because PSU cannot close out a game is pathetic. Nobody is going to fear PSU because PSU is too predictable.
Don't know why would say that? You mean that three inc's in the last five minutes to stop the clock didn't work for you? What about Pry forcing IU to run 15 plays in the final minutes of the game using up the clock? Uh, no wait, that's only is good if you force them turn the ball over on downs and not if the long drive ends in a TD. Which brings them to within one TD of winning the game. Of course IU would have to recover an onside kick to have that opportunity. What are the chances of that happening? Pretty good if your outstanding game management coach gives them two chances to do it by calling an ill conceived TO!
Losing Gattis and Moorhead were huge. Continuing to hire assistants only because he worked with them at Vandy is moronic, when was the last time Vandy was elite?
it's a "win" only in the win column. It certainly did not feel like or look like a "win." Especially, not against an also ran team like IU! The last three games could only be an indication on how badly this team is really playing. As Paterno was fond of saying "if you're not improving from week to week means you are gettin worse." Anyone really believe (except for SPF) they have shown any improvement?
Really mb I thought we played great against Ohio st we just lost the game. Last week we dropped a INT that would’ve won the game. This week wasn’t James Franklin’s best game but we won. Purdue is putting a butt kicking on Ohio State right now so these teams like Purdue and Indiana play hard at home and they’re hard to beat. Ohio State if I remember right had their hands full with Indiana until late in the game. These teams will beat you if you don’t come ready to play especially if you are on the road. We did good to get the win IMO. Winning is all that matters to me I don’t care how ugly it is lol
You're correct, JF seems to think that when they're trying to run time off the clock it's time to open up the playbook and throw the ball.
At least Moorhead got a HC job, but Gattis basically took a lateral move to Bama and the PSU Achilles heel has been dropped passes. What was Franklin thinking of by hiring a guy from Army who never throws the ball. Franklin loves to talk but I hope he begins to walk the talk.
Well the good news is that you don't have to worry about any team taking PS's current OC and DC!
Agree but the sad part is, PSU is stuck with them.
SPF, you need to read David Jones column on PS's win (?). As he so aptly stated; "Maybe there's no such thing as moral victories. But if there are, mustn't there also be moral defeats? If so, this was one for the PSU staff."

I'm with you Alum, I didn't like those hires either. JF needs to hire s well established DC, even if it takes pulling some of that 5 million out of the bank if he has to. I hope the AD is paying attention.
