about football coaches salary by endowment. I read where Harbaugh was paid by an endowment (not sure
what %). His official title is "J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach". The article also mentioned Muffet McGraw and the Stanford women's basketball coach.

It would seem that if the endower wanted the endowee to play X instead of Y, he may have some leverage.

Happens a lot, very little of coaches salaries come from the schools. Most is from endorsements, radio/tv commitments, speaking fees, and boosters.
