Reports say they are close to hiring U of Cincinnati’s AD, Mike Bohn. Should that happen is Luke Fickell far behind as HC? I hope so, it would put an end to those annoying rumors about hiring Franklin that get started by s_ _ _t starting sports writers who love grabbing headlines.

Fickell has coached since 1999 in the state of Ohio... never left. He even played at OSU, so I don't think he'd jump at USC.

Do you think USC might swallow their pride and go after coach O? I would

Roam, you make valid points as you usually do. Based on that Fickell is an Ohio guy, his only real case for a better coaching job would be Ohio State. He was the temporary HC while  Meyers was suspended yet they didn’t hire him when he resigned....we don’t know if he was ever considered. Should USC hire Bohn, I have to think he would persuade Fickell to follow. The money, recruiting, fan base...everything is better there than Cincinnati. Maybe in the event Day goes to the NFL ( and yes, sports writers are circulating that rumor too), Fickell goes back to Ohio but his prospects at USC are much better there than Cincinnati. That said, I’m guessing Day is at OSU for a long time so that’s a long wait for Fickell. Who knows what anybody is thinking, but it’s fun to speculate.

The pay would have to be worth it... Right now he makes $2.5 million in Ohio. USC is in California... and LA to boot. That's a lot more hassle, a lot more stress, and a LOT more taxes, all to coach at USC.

The money HAS to be worth it, IMO 4 million or more to even consider it... if not then what's the point?

What? When??? USC hasn't even had a coaching search since they fired Ed Orgeron and Steve Sarkesian was named coach in 2014. Fickell wasn't ever part of that search. Clay Helton took over from Sarkesian as interm and then full time head coach in 2015 and has been there ever since.

I just don't see Fickell leaving for USC, he seems like an Ohio/Midwest type guy. He literally has spent less than one year of his life living outside of Ohio, when he was an UFA for the Saints.

He grew up in Ohio. He went to Ohio State. He met his wife at OSU. He's coached at Akron, OSU, and Cincy. He has six kids, all younger... I really doubt a guy with that many ties to the Ohio community is going to uproot his family to go coach in Los Angeles. IMO.

You never know, Roam.  Tom Bradley left home to coach at UCLA.

That’s when he wanted the job when they let him go. After Sarks got fired he filled in and done a great job but they give the job to another coach but I can’t remember who. They really didn’t fire him they just didn’t give him the job because he was just filling in, right? Maybe it was sharks who they give the job to instead of coach O? Bad decision if so.

Roam, as much as I appreciate and respect your thoughts, I’m calling “eeeeeeeeeyaaaaa-nah!” IF, USC can’t get Urban Meyer who they really want and will do anything to get, and IF they hire Bohn as AD,  it will be Fickell. It might not be Urban Meyer money but it will be enough to make it worthwhile. Where is he going to go in Ohio? Day isn’t leaving anytime soon and USC offers so much opportunity over Cincinnati.

I will wager you $1,000 in imaginary bovine belly futures ( delivered in full by the year 2099) that it’s Fickell if Bohn is the AD and Urb declines.

There will be opportunities for him very close to Ohio, I see him taking a Big Ten job before I'd see him move to Los Angeles.

I don't know why everyone thinks USC is such a great job, they've been a dumpster fire for 15 years. By all means, if you want a job where your boss will most likely get fired within a year and you'll never have any sort of stability... yeah take it LMAO

USC kicks deep with 15 seconds left in the half and Oregon returns it for TD.  Not good for the coach.
