That’s a good win for USC and the big 10.

Each team was a complete shell of itself. Opt outs and the transfer portal have made these games meaningless.

They do mean something because when we lost the Peach Bowl Ole Miss climbed in the polls and we dropped. 11-2 is better than 10-3 plus it shows what kind of depth a team has and the younger players get to play. You may as well make the best of it.

No they don't, because the AP Poll doesn't mean anything. The CFP is what matters.

Yeah, you said it... it shows depth, which makes it a glorified spring game.

@roaminglion then maybe the CFP needs a final top 25. A Penn State bowl win against Utah in the Rose Bowls is just as important as a win against WV. A win is a win some come with trophies

I briefly watched A couple bowl games and the stadiums were 1/2 to 2/3 full and the games were extremely boring.  Also listened to the Pitt game a little on the radio and it sounded like the stadium was completely empty

We beat Utah with half their team out. All it proved was we could beat their backups.

If starters from the entire year are opting out and transferring, these games mean nothing.

No one thought Missouri was better than Ohio State last year. OSU's entire offense left and the game meant nothing.

As for the CFP doing a final top 25... why? It matters that Illinois was 18th not 21st after a bowl game? I get that it used to, but it just doesn't to me anymore.

If Ohio St or any other teams players sit out that’s part of the game today the teams still have a game to go win. Why finish the season if a team knows they  don’t have a chance at the playoffs. When our players sit out the Peach Bowl and we got beat that’s Penn State problem the Ole Miss team could care less. The Ole Miss fans and players left the game with joy and we didn’t 😂

Miami is pounding Iowa St up front. This is a good game. Iowa St is pretty good though

If I was still coaching and had the privilege to coach the type of talent that had an opportunity to play in the NFL I in good conscience could not allow that player to participate and risk an injury that would cost him millions of dollars in a game that meant absolutely nothing...To risk a kids professional career to play in the real mayonnaise pop tarts auto parts life insurance bowl that means nothing to me is coaching malpractice...I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if that kid suffered a career ending injury in a meaningless game like that...

That's great, I'm not saying fans can't enjoy the game. I'm saying it doesn't mean anything in reference to rankings or "what conference is better" - they aren't the teams that played all year.

There’s a lot of fans at the pop tart bowl I’m watching the game and it’s been a good one.

@southern-psu-fan the stadium was half full at most. They accidentally did a brief stadium shot and showed it. Miami is garbage with or without their alleged great QB and obviously the ACC is trash too.

The only bowl games that are interesting are these playoff games...It is tough to sell these meaningless non playoff bowl games...They do the best they can to put lipstick on the pigs but at the end of the day they are still pigs...The best thing they could do would be to expand the playoff and use these meaningless bowl games as playoff games...Nobody cares about these games anymore...

I’m for doing a 24 team playoff and end the season for all the other teams. I want a system where nobody gets a bye.

@psujoe  the shot I seen looked like the stadium had a lot of fans there. It wasn’t a blimp shot so maybe it was only half full.

Most of these stadiums for the bowl games I have seen so far are far from sellouts...This game with Colorado and BYU seems to be well attended mainly by Colorado...I am really curious what the viewership numbers are for these non playoff bowl games...I am sure they are less than stellar...Nobody is interested...

@southern-psu-fan If you want a playoff with no byes, the number of teams in the playoff has to be a power of 2. 2,4,8,16,32,... Any other number cannot give you no byes. If you start with 24, the 2nd week you have 12, the third week you are at 6 and then 3. That championship game with 3 teams on the field would be really interesting.

@psugrad81 I kind of like the idea of a 3 team championship melee! B1G beef, SEC speed, we're as good as everyone else ACC team and new rules to be enforced by B1G refs. Chaos!!

Maybe start it out with 3 teams in a punt, pass & kick contest.  Then the 2 highest scoring teams go on to play a regular game without officials.  That should eliminate any bias regarding holding or holding non-calls!

@psugrad81 16 is good with me because the portal and NIL has already leveled the playing field in a few short years. The big 10 has already caught up with the SEC and probably is better this year. Thanks for the info 81

I don’t know where we were talking about Carter coming back next year so I’ll put it here. I’m seeing him being the #1 or #2 pick going in the draft and he would be nuts to come back. I love ya #11 but take the money and go make us proud playing in the NFL!

Yeah, but you got to leave the Peach Bowl $1,000 lighter, and you didn't have to carry the burden of joy. But seriously, I feel that college football has diverged radically from its original purpose and intent. But I do enjoy when the Service Academies are competitive, and I'm glad to see that Iowa State beat Miami.  I think Miami would have won if Miami's starting quarterback hadn't opted out of the second half.
