They were left out because other than TAMU and Miami their schedule was shit and they lost to both of those teams.
It was the exact same scenario we are in this year. Other than a certain 2 teams our schedule is shit. If we lose those two games we are out and deserve to be out.

If you do then you really got stoned on the kool aid they have been giving you...Personally I believe we beat USC and have a decent chance at going into Michigan and knocking them off in their own building...I am figuring on 1 loss...With one caveat...The injuries don't pile up on key players...They already lost one for a little while...Lets see how they fill that hole...

As for your premise, it's kinda flawed considering Kentucky just beat #9 Texas A&M on the road and is still UNRANKED. That SEC bias didn't seem to do them much good.
@the-funeral-director I never said the systems not flawed in fact I was the first person in here years ago talking about how ESPiN influences the whole thing. All I’m saying is if ND didnt’t get in last year with 2 losses we’re not getting in this year and I believe there was a southern team a few years ago that went through the same scenario and also didn’t make it in with two losses. Put quality opponents in the OOC and this isn’t an issue. What the hell are we afraid of? It’s not like people are flocking to the stadium to watch these crap games. People we know were at the game on Saturday and everyone one of them have stated it was 75 percent full at the max. I don’t give a shit what bogus attendance figures the athletic department announced because they all lie. USC’s stadium was 90 percent empty a few weeks ago and they claimed an attendance of 60,000 which everyone knows was BS. I’ve been at similar games in the past where it was obvious the actual attendance was nowhere near what was announced.

I'm for an improvement because I simply don't think it is very 'sporting' or 'fair' for an administration to feed their FCS team to an 'opponent' for $$$$. Nor do I like seeing a big boy beat the crap out of a little girl for practice!
I don't mind beating up on 2nd and 3rd tier BCS teams especially our regional players like Pitt, WV, Syracuse. There are arguments about recruiting but I'm not sure they have much validity in this new free-agent NIL world. I suppose it is hard to schedule a Rutgers or MD B10 game as an extra. Likely not allowed.
ND would be a good draw for a major, maybe VA, Army or Navy? VT would make a nice grudge match 🙁
But the Alum, State College, Administration want 7 home games...So we get what we get, 7 home games plus a neutral site game against Temple for fans was a good setup this year? That is with 5 B10 home games and 4 Away. I suppose half the years we will only get 4 B10 home games...not good.
I suppose we paid two sparring partners this year to get to 7. Next year do we have to pay three to get to 7 home games?
Does paying visitors 2-3M a year reduce $ available for NIL? In some way it must. It reduces $ available somewhere.

I do agree with you Homer...They got to pick up a power 4 conference game in the first 3 games to start the season off...I don't know why I thought Temple had a good football team this year...I thought I read somewhere that they were supposed to be good but I guess that isn't the case at all...I think you are also right about it driving up at least one good early season attendance game...Truthfully I would just schedule Pitt or West Virginia every year...

Pitt makes perfect sense, however I believe they already will play WVU every year from 2029 to 2036. Getting Pitt to schedule another P4 OOC might be asking too much.
@roaminglion sounds like the Penn St fan base is tired of the gimme games. I don’t have a problem with playing temple every year but get an ACC team also on the schedule Pitt being my first choice. Temple and Pitt make perfect sense to me because it keeps money in PA if that means anything anymore.
