Anybody have any thoughts about Trace's performance at the combine? I wasn't able to watch the TV coverage and have read conflicting views. PL said he threw well, others said he didn't impress. Also, any opinions on his refusing to show his stuff at DB? I can't blame him for sticking to his QB dream, but maybe playing DB would be better than watching on TV, LOL.

Go for it, if he gave in to what others told him coming out of High School, he would have been playing safety somewhere and not breaking records at Penn State. He can always move to another position later, why not go all in on QB now.

I like you're line of thinking. I'll be pulling for him (like I always do for former Lions). I just hope his performance at the combine was good enough to convince a team to take a chance on him. Although, the undrafted free agent route sometimes gives you a shot at a better fit of team you end up with.
I have NO clue how the Pro's trade draft picks or how they trade players for other players, but If I was the NY Giant's GM, I would be finding a way to get McSorley as my QB!! Can you imagine pairing him with Barkley next season? They would tear it up!!!

That might be an ideal situation for Trace. Would give him plenty of time to learn the ropes under Manning. No pressure to come in and play right away. Might be doable if the Giants want to give it a shot. I'd think Trace will still be available throughout the early rounds.

I feel he is going to be a 5th at best, UFA at worst.
Trace is a very very long shot to make it as a qb. At this level, motivation and heart is high for all candidates. It’s mostly about innate athleticism. Trace’s best shot is as a receiver or db. I like this kid and am definitely pulling for him. Roam is right, no harm for going all in as a qb now. I’m sure he will get a shot in other positions at a later date.

Like I said earlier, UFA is not that bad of a deal if he lands with the right team.
He did have the fastest 40 time at 4.57 seconds.
Not sure Trace and Saquan would be "tearing it up" like at PSU,, but it would be nice seeing the two of them together again. Don't think a steady diet of the RPO will work in the NFL.
I don’t either lioninsa. I loved McSorley as a college QB but what he’s good at won’t work in the NFL IMO. To much speed in the NFL that’s why a lot of teams have a hard time finding QB’s.. McSorley is a winner and I will be pulling for him.
IMO he will be a UFA for a team that needs a third string or scout team players. From there, McSorley may show that he was underrated and work his way into the active roster. Probably as a backup QB but who knows?
If McGloin can make it as a backup, I think McSorley can.

I can see you're scenario happening, but I hope his path goes a little easier than that. Maybe UFA and then a camp standout who earns his way onto the active roster without any scout team or practice roster duty. Ultimately, I think Trace will do better than McGloin. I believe he has as much "heart" as Moxie, but a little more talent, IMHO.
Just a side note... One thing I don't think many people realize about QBs is the difference in balls from the NCAA to NFL. So a bit of the success of a QB making the transition is if he is comfortable throwing the new type of ball, which some player aren't. I believe an NFL ball is 1" larger in circumference and a 1/2" wider.

Im guessing there are many of you on here that would kill to be 1" larger in circumference and a 1/2" wider. Sorry Roam, you floated that one right up there and left it on my hitting zone.
Ya killing me tsuga lol
Ballroom jeans by Duluth Trading Co, is the answer.
His leadership is unquestionable. I think his biggest weakness will be pass accuracy.
IMO if he can get into camp, consistently read defensive schemes and drop passes on a dime at the speed NFL receivers run routes, he has a good chance albeit a long shot.

I think if he lands with the right team (a loser), can consistently read defenses and drop passes on a dime...he starts! LMAO 🤣 🤣 🤣

Girth jokes aside ... sorry Tsuga, I always was on the impression that the college ball was the bigger of the two unless things changed. I am a little guy, and when we played street football (35 years ago, give or take) I remember having no trouble throwing a NFL ball, but the College ball was just a wee bit too big for my hands
The circumference and length of my package is aok.

According to Google search: "An NFL football will measure 11" long with a 22" circumference at the midway point. Unless it is being used by the Patriots (joke Pats fans, joke), the air pressure should be between 12-1/2 psi and 13-1/2 psi. A college ball (D1) will be just slightly smaller (1/2" in length and 1" circumference).
