@psujoe I don’t believe the PAC was ever that good but USC has won their fair share of NC’s

@psujoe absolutely not because the PAC. Sucked.

Yet the PAC12 beat the Big Ten more often in the Rose Bowl.

So if the Pac12 sucked, why did they usually beat the Big Ten in the Rose Bowl?

The University of Southern California (USC) Trojans football team has won 25 Rose Bowls, which is a record for the bowl. The Trojans have appeared in 34 Rose Bowls in total, which is also a record. there you go…USC

@psujoe what stupid coaching decisions? IMO we have to get better at QB and all our problems go away. Hopefully that happens this year. If we were playing like Florida, Tennessee or USC I would understand the criticism but that’s not the case. I do agree we need some big time wins but the team is a top tier program. I also believe Oregon is a top tier team too and they ain’t won anything more than we have playing in a garbage conference.

My what a short memory you have. Even your hero Paul Finebaum who you claim is always right has stated multiple times that PSU loses 1-2 games a year because of the head coach and his  stupid decisions but apparently you’ve already forgotten about last year and the Michigan game.

Most wins by team in Rose bowl:

  1. USC - 25
  2. Ohio State & Michigan - 9
  3. Washington & Stanford - 7
  4. UCLA - 5

Yeah... now what? Where's all these Big Ten wins outside of USC you were insinuating? Michigan has a losing record in the Rose Bowl at 9-12 too. Ohio State is barely .500

Top 6 teams with wins: Big Ten has 2, Pac 12 has 4.

You didn't prove the Pac 12 sucks, you proved the Big Ten kinda sucked outside of Ohio State & Michigan.

Pac 12 vs. Big Ten in Rose Bowls this century:

Pac 12 has 10 wins to the Big Ten's 5.

Teams that have one from the Pac 12:

  1. USC
  2. Oregon
  3. Washington
  4. Stanford

Take away USC, and the Pac 12 still has 5 wins. Sorry, but your claim USC masks a sh*tty conference is BS.

@psujoe  Michigan beat everybody last year and won the NC homer. We weren’t good enough at QB to beat Michigan. It’s very hard to go undefeated and most teams los a game or 2 even the elite teams. We’ve not been good enough at QB to win the NC but I can say that about 95% of the teams out there. Look at the teams that win the NC every year and they have a very special QB and that’s usually why they win the NC. It is James Franklin’s job to get that done and I believe he will. It took The goat Joe Paterno and Tom Osborne 15 years to win the NC you gotta keep at it.

@roaminglion if it was a good conference it would still be there so it’s not BS. There’s a reason it’s gone.

@southern-psu-fan so since Michigan won the NC JF gets a pass for all the stupid decisions he made in that game? That makes sense.

@psujoe  He deserves criticism for not winning more games against Ohio St and Michigan just saying he deserves credit for winning some of the big games he has won and the job he’s done. Fix the QB positive and Homer will be happy and so will the rest of us. Hopefully this new OC fixes that problem we will see. He doesn’t deserve to be fired. If we start losing games to WV, Iowa, UCLA and Wisconsin then he deserves to be fired.

You seriously live in some kind of dream world. JF  has made a lot of stupid decisions in games other than just Mich and OSU.
We are not an elite program or even an “upper tier” program and every PSU fan I know that lives in this area knows it. You can fix the QB all you want but James Franklin will still be JF.

As that legendary genius Paul Finebaum says “JF’s decisions will cost PSU 1-2 games a season” and as you have stated multiple times “Finebaum is always right”

No worries Southern.  Everything is as clear as mud.  It all makes sense.

LMAO, you think it dissolved because of on-field play?

It dissolved because it was on the west coast and didn't have viewers. It didn't change with the times, and still wanted to play night games when 3/4 of the country was asleep.

My lord

@southern-psu-fan Just explain this:

All time bowl win percentage:

  • SEC - 57%
  • PAC - 53%
  • Big Ten - 46%

Cant wait to hear some wierd contrived explination about why the PAC really sucked and it was "Only USC"... even though their conference was the only Power 5 conference outside the SEC with a winning overall bowl record.

And we beat them all!  Penn State has earned invitations to 53 bowl games. The Nittany Lions have compiled a bowl record of 31–20–2 (. 604), including a 17–7–1 (. 700) record in the major bowls (Rose, Orange, Sugar, Fiesta, and Cotton).

Yeah, we're a good team! Doesn't mean our conference has been great in bowls.

The one year Minnesota was good... he lost. The years Michigan State was good... he lost. The years Michigan was good... he lost.

3-17 vs the top 10, and 9-9 vs. #11 through #25 isn't good. He's won some big games

Two of the three he won against top 25 teams... was Wisconsin. A team even you said isn't great.

That's a mid record vs. the top 25. It's not just him not being able to beat OSU or UM. He's plain awful against elite teams and average against anyone ranked.

Consistently being outcoached in those games doesn’t say much about the guy either. Hell he was even embarassed  by a fill in Michigan coach who had zero head coaching experience.

@roaminglion  USC has 25 Rose Bowl Wins so I can say it’s because of USC. Conference stunk up the field besides USC and a few Oregon teams all them other team were garbage most of the time. Big 10 also sucked for 20 years before Penn St joined.

I couldn’t care less where he’s ranked by some blowhard as that doesn’t change the fact that he  continuously makes stupid in game decisions that negatively impact the outcome of 1-2 games a year.

Funny how you’re all of a sudden into rankings.

No we need to stop making stupid coaching decisions vs teams that have equal or slightly more talent than we do. The blunders made by JF in big games is also why other programs can negatively recruit against us and why elite recruits won’t come to PSU.

The coaching blunders in big games is also a major factor as to why JF is no longer a hot commodity when coaching positions open up at big time programs. You think JF would be a candidate today at places like USC or LSU today like he was years ago? It’s highly doubtful.

You dont understand what conference win percentage means, because 53% is for all the teams. USC counts for 1 bowl game per year. If all the other teams were losing the Pac wouldn't be over 50%
