#1 Georgia

#2 Alabama

#3 Ohio State

#4 Michigan

#5  Oklahoma
I have Clemson on the outside looking in this week.  We only rank the top 5 teams here at nits of the round table because this is where the big dawgs play.

If we keep winning and beat Meatchicken, can we take over the #4 spot????

@rip it’s still early BK, since Penn St is ranked 15 and we kicked Auburn butt like we did I believe 4th-15th is fighting for the 4th spot but imo we should be ranked 7th, 15th is just no respect because of the last 2 years. 3-0 baby still crawling our way back to the top. I honestly don’t think Clemson or Oklahoma is that much better than we are and they might not be as good as we are.

Utah has done absolutely nothing to be ranked in front of an undefeated Penn St team that’s beat Auburn down especially having 1 loss. Utah doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt with one loss.

@southern-psu-fan so your logic of ranking teams higher because they were recent playoff contenders doesn’t apply to Utah? And to be honest we haven’t really proved anything yet because it remains to be seen how good Purdue and Auburn are. Purdue just lost to suckycuse !

You're a tough ranker, Southern, lol.  I do believe we are ranked 14 in the AP poll and ESPIN Power Rankings has us #10!

Clemson and Oklahoma has earned respect imo. Utah has a loss and they need to be dropped down below all undefeated teams.

I’ve been reading this a lot since the game. Auburn is not good, they are the worst team in the SEC and a litany of other things to discount the PSU win.  Before the game none of that was a factor though. It was all about the SEC and it means more and that stadium is so hard to play in blah blah blah…

you know what! Penn State sent a message yesterday regardless. That was, in my opinion, the most prepared team PENN State has put on the field under Franklin. He deserves credit for that.

as for Auburn being not good? That’s probably true and so what?! Penn State did exactly what they should do to a team that’s not good, kick their rear ends.

now I don’t know how the season will play out but a lot of teams have lost to bad teams already and this Penn State team has not. Furthermore that kind of win, even if Auburn is bad will only help later in the season. It’s not easy to play 2 or 3 games in the road in hostile environments and win.  That’s exactly what Penn State did.

does that mean they will make the playoffs? Nope! But i guarantee everyone in the locker room believes that can and that’s a really great thing to have going for them.

im enjoying the heck out of seeing progress made in a lot of fronts. This team has the right mix of veteran and youth to wind up surprising a lot of people, myself included.

so yeah maybe Auburn stinks but PSU still made a statement and they did it with room to grow… and I doubt anybody left on the schedule is looking forward to playing this team!

we are!!!

@cavensprawl I didn’t say Auburn stinks. What I meant was that 3 games in we really don’t know how good any team is and that ranking teams based on recruiting rankings or what they did last year or the year before is absolute BS.

I have to ask, how has the current Oklahoma team "earned" respect? 3 years ago they were absolutley boat raced in the playoff giving up 60+ points. The next year they lost two bad games, and the year after that didn't even win their conference.

Their QB left, their best WR left, and their coach left all before the season. So...

@roaminglion

I am asking the same question and then some....lol. But hey, Southern earned the respect to post this every week and I gave him my blessing! But I thought for sure he would have Penn State at the least sitting at #5. I think we can agree the Dawgs earn the #1 spot today.  I would be ok with Ohio State at #2....they did beat ND who was #4 at the time, so regardless where ND is today, I will give Ohio State some respect.  Michigan?  No way! Bama?  Nope!  Oklahoma?  They did beat Utep and Kent State and they have an impressive win over a Big10 team in Nebraska!!!! Good Grief! LOl. Clemson on the outside looking in? That win over Furman is almost  enough to sway me, but I need to see some more first!!

Bama had a near miss against Texas, but let's face it, Bama will most likely be in the conversation when the dust settles....as long as they get by Austin Peay at the end of the season.

Outside of Ga, Ohio State and yes, Bama, the next 11 teams could be all ranked #4.  I guess we could say Kentucky has the best win out of this bunch on paper, but Okla State did beat AR Pine-Bluff, so they could fall at #4 too! I am on the fence with Utah as another possible #4 team.  They did rebound nicely after losing to Florida.  That win over over Southern Utah was impressive.  Remember, Southern Utah beat St Thomas the week before, so they may be better than we think!

SOUTHERN, keep posting this baby!!! But for goodness sakes, put Penn State in there next week!!!! They hammered Auburn in an Orange Out!!

GO STATE!!!!

@mtnittanylion  I did say teams 4th-15th are a toss up for the 4th spot and I’d have us ranked 7th if I did a top 10. Still a lot of football left we will get the true top 5 here it just takes a little time 😂

Clemson is 13-3 the last 2 years and Oklahoma is 15-2 the last 2 years so they get the benefit of the doubt as of today on that 4th and 5th spot. Their schedule is also a little easier. Also this ain’t the same Georgia or Alabama team as last year either, right?

Who gives a shet what their record was 2 years ago !! NO TEAM gets the benefit of the doubt and 2022 playoff participants shall be chosen based on 2022 results ONLY ! So sad to see someone so brainwashed ! As I've told you many times in the past you need to stop kneeling at the ESPiN/Finebaum altar

Is that suppose to be a joke? Hate to tell you this but it looks like the ACC  is going to suck once again. NC State is overrated and Clemson plays no one. Giving them a free pass to the 2022 playoff based on their record of beating up on ACC patsies in 2020 should be a crime.

@psujoe Clemson has beat Alabama 2 times for a NC. I said Oklahoma and Clemson has the easiest schedule and that does play into rankings it always has. These 2 teams have been very consistent in winning a lot of football games and this year won’t be any different. Take it easy on ole Finebaum remoh, he’s earned respect that’s why he’s on espn and he has a very respected radio show.

I don't watch or respect anyone on ESPiN nor do I watch any shows other than PSU football on their network. You're even more brainwashed than I thought.

I disagree. You're giving Oklahoma the benefit of the doubt because of the record over the past 2 years, yet their best players and their coach have all left.

If anything, that means USC should get the benefit of the doubt because they all went there.

Hey, I am not here defend Old Southern, BUT.....this is his Top 5, so he gets call it the way wants to call it! In fact, I think HIS ranking system makes more sense than lets say......this weeks AP top 25, the old BCS ranking system, the current CFP rankings, the Big10 East and West divisions, and how about that 1994 AP final poll???

Southern, if Penn State takes care of Biz this coming weekend, slide them into #4 and you will be set!!! A blow out over an SEC team and a win over the defending Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl champion is enough body of work to solidify the number #4 spot after week 4!!!!

GO STATE!!!!

After 3 games i don’t think Clemson can beat Oklahoma and I had Clemson in the top 5 last week. I’m still not sold on Clemson QB but they are 13-3 their last 16 games and Oklahoma is 15-2 their last 17 games. What is USC record the last 2 years? Oklahoma played with Nebraska and beat ‘em 48-14. I believe 7th is just about right for us but we will climb as we keep winning. Come on remoh, you had us losing to auburn when I said we would kick their ass 😂

I’m very satisfied where we are being 3 games in I just don’t know if we’re good enough at QB to beat Clemson and Oklahoma. That’s not a shot at Clifford because I think Clifford is playing pretty good I just don’t think he’s playing good enough to be top 5 just yet. Clemson and Oklahoma are hard to beat that’s why they’ve won so many games the last 5 years. We have 2 stud RB’s now so I do believe we’ll keep gettin better every game and that helps Clifford.
