In his defense, Oregon did lose to the last place team in their division. That Stanford loss looks bad.
Ohio State is going to have a difficult time beating Michigan and Sparty. It would not surprise me at all if Ohio State has 4 losses when it is ALL said and done !

FRANKLIN AND CO blew it!!! They should be 8-0 and any ELITE coach under the EXACT same circumstances would be 8-0. They had Ohio State's number last night and once again, JF couldn't close the deal!!
Look - what is the sense of complaining. Not like we are seeing something for the first time! JF is giving his best and this is what his best is!!
GO STATE!!! I hope you can find that 6th win to make a bowl game. May come down to Rutgers at home and that is not a given based on what happened with Illinois at home.

@mtnittanylion I understand your frustration but the football program is in great shape and I promise you James Franklin kept us from becoming Miami. I’m as upset as anybody because I like James Franklin and I wanted it to work. I know he tried his best and we should appreciate what he did but It’s definitely time for a change.
I agree. James was worth a shot, but he just hasn't delivered a consistent product on the field. Too many questionable decisions in games and way too many losses to teams we had no business losing to. Yes, he can recruit, but potential is not being developed. Time for a change. I'd like to see Yurcich or JoMo.
He was 1-8 against ranked teams as the HC of Vanderbilt! His biggest win was vs GA when GA decided to blow 14 point lead in the 4th QtR with several fumbles and an interception. By the same token, he ALSO lost two games as the HC when leading a ranked team.
Yes, he has beat some ranked teams as the Penn State coach......HE FREAKING SHOULD !! He is the HC of PENN STATE which historically has beaten a lot of ranked teams!!!

1) 10 - 18 against ranked teams
2) 2 wins against a top 10 team
3) 5 losses when leading or tied with a ranked team
Overall.....11-24 vs ranked teams as the HC of Vandy and PSU
Look, the guy has done a lot of good at Penn State. But his record at Penn State and Vandy is FAR FROM ELITE STATUS! And I just don't see anything changing when NOTHING IS CHANGING!
I truly believe there are coaches out there right now that could have Penn State sitting at 8-0 under the EXACT SAME SCENARIOS that JF has had!

James just can't get over the hump. I think he's hit his peak with us and it's starting to go downhill now.
Just want to add that if James Franklin does come back next year I’m not doom and gloom about it I just think when you make a change while you are winning some games you won’t take a bigger step back. If Yurcich or Moorhead gets the job I believe it’s next man up and start winning right now. The late great Dale Earnhardt won the cup championship in 86,87, 90, 91 and finished 12 in 92 and they fired the crew chief. Dale said he didn’t want to run things in the ground before they made the change and he was right, he won the cup championship again in 93 and 94. Dude won 4 championships but didn’t get it done in 92 and he was let go.if you want to stay on top you better make moves to stay on top.

Now, JF is the head coach. I assume as the Top Dog, he can override decisions and/or make his own. Correct, hard to be an Elite coach at Vandy, but the Cincy and Wake Forest Coach seem to be giving it a try! Anyhow, if you take over a crippled program ( which was 9 years ago by the way ) one would think if you are going to build an ELITE program and become an ELITE coach.......

Dotson almost had MORE yards on his TD run than Penn State had the entire game.....and they were on the Ohio State 2 yd line. AND BTW, he scored THAT TD against the RIGHT SIDE of the OHIO STATE defense. I am pretty sure I mentioned that might be a good side to attack if you were the OC at PSU!!
