Scroll about 2/3rds down. Talks about the 4th down Turnover on Downs near midfield in the 4th Quarter. It's sick to see how Roberson missed two wide open receivers in the middle of the field. To me, that's coaching...not the kid.

Definitely on the coaches but don't try to pin it on JF because his apologists on this forum aren't willing to hold him accountable for anything.

@psujoe: I was at the sugar bowl in '79 when Bama stopped us on the goal line. There were those that wanted JP fired after the game and in the following months. He went on to win to ships in the 80's.

Those who wanted him fired were as wrong then as you are now.

The kid needs practice but he is in his 3rd year but I did see something in him I love and that was him running the ball, he finds the holes and he’s gone. I want to see him in the short yardage plays if we’re going to run the ball with the QB or wildcat the kid give it a 100% imo he just wasn’t ready for that hostile environment but honestly most backup QB’s ain’t. Get Clifford healthy and use Roberson for run plays I don’t care if the defense is expecting it.

Agreed, Southern.  Use him like they used Will.

Chalk this one up to performance anxiety.

Being a pinch hitter is tough, I never liked it.  The team, in a global term, did not help get him going.  And momentum is a fickle thing.  To quote Crash Davis.

I told him that a player on a streak has to respect the streak...You know why? Because they don't - -they don't happen very often.  If you believe you're playing well because you're getting laid, or because you're not getting laid, or because you wear women's underwear, then you ARE! And you should know that!

Start a new streak next week.

@underlion Kudos for the Bull Durham reference. This is my favorite scene. Maybe it applies here?

How can you call missing two wide open receivers a coaching problem? I find it hard to believe that coaches are teaching QBs to hit the green area between receivers.

@underlion Not really. I just liked that scene in the movie. If people want to try to make the connection, so be it.

The 1969 Colts lost to the Jets in the Super Bowl because Earl Morrel did not see a wide open receiver waving his arms in the end zone. Happens to lots of good quarterbacks.

One of the online 'analysts' explains he should have recognize it was not man coverage because when PSU shifted nobody followed.  Therfore his read was the open receivers but he played it like it was man coverage.

If both QB’s can help us win tomorrow play ‘em both. Who cares if Illinois is expecting a pass or run I say let the guy that throws the best throw the ball and let Roberson be the run/pass threat the rest of the year I believe Roberson can help us win if we play him to what he does good. Roberson made the Iowa defense look slow and Iowa has a pretty good defense. I’d at least like to see what the freshman has anyway.
