Opted out earlier today. That's a head scratcher.
Not a head scratcher, it was highly speculated that he would. Fields is probably next.

Players opting out might just be an aspect of the modern student athlete regardless of the school or maybe some schools have a higher percentage due to other factors such as culture or a coach departing.
Two Arkansas players have opted out:
- Treylon Burks, wide receiver
- Tre Williams, defensive end

@psujoe: interesting take on Fields. The reason I look at Tangelo as a head scratcher is he doesnt seem to be anything more than a very late round pick or more likely an UDFA. His stats dont really stand out to me, but then again neither did Oweh's last year either I suppose.
Why are these guys waiting til the last minute to opt out?? Any ideas??
@t-hale I have no idea why they're waiting so long to announce but I hope they're letting the coaches know long before they've been making it public.

Would not surprise me to see a modified bowl format next year. Money talks, majority of fans aren't paying to go see the third stringers play, you can get that for free or close to free during the Spring games.
That's why the late announcement on the opt-outs. Maybe the coaches (Franklin) asked the guys to hold off making any announcements???
On top of that, I dropped cable and went OTA this past year; didn't realize ESPN has the monopoly on the televised games, oh well, guess I'm outta luck watching BS Bowl games, looks like that it includes the Outback as well.
@psu61 man 61, my cable bill is $185 a month that’s with cable, internet and security system. I’ve got XFINITY Comcast because NBC does a lot of nascar and they do a great job. I believe I get my money worth though we have all the channels
Southern, I haven't missed it a lick. I actually enjoy catching games on YouTube and watching the "game in 10 minutes", cuts out all the BS commentator crap and just gets to the point. Once politics and personal opinions became the sports commentators narrative, I tuned out. Hell I turn the volume off on most games I watch.
I'm in the same boat 61, right after the Illinois loss, I said F-it, I'm done with cable and cut the cord. I was able to find the last PSU game somewhere online, but so far, can't get a single Bowl game due to the ESPN monopoly. At least I can listen to Hammy and Steve Jones call the game on the radio, and also enjoy ya'll in the live game day chat feature (Thanks Caven). If anyone here has Hulu (The 5.99 package), are bowl games available to watch the next day?
I read somewhere that ESPN and Youtube are in a squabble right now and that bowl games may not be able to be seen on it's streaming service.
