Back when they still made the mini colored marshmallows, I was told you could use them for steelhead. Never tried them, seemed a little over the top for me. But I can say, they do work pretty well for attracting raccoons into live traps to keep them out of my sweetcorn.

Hey T, forgot to mention the other day.  While driving by the last surviving 84 Lumber store in the area, I saw they had a sign out front advertising "Sheds for Sale".  Now, I'm not sure if they have a moose shed, but it wouldn't hurt (pun intended) to check it out. (if you have any 84 stores left out that way) Hell, they might have whitetail, caribou, elk! ....who knows what size sheds they might have. One stop shop!

I've heard it said, "Build it and they will come." Put your new moose shed up in the back yard and your grandson can drink coffee in your kitchen as he waits for moose to move in. Not that I'm condoning you giving into his extortion demands, but better safe than sorry. Two birds, one stone; he gets his moose, you can take pics and tell everyone you were his guide.  Oh yeah, AND you can spend quality time w/ your grandson!

Yes, I know it's not near as fun being in the woods and finding your own. But hey, beats lumps, bumps and icy glares, as well as receiving in house incarceration.

LOL.....that's the closest he'll ever come to seeing a moose shed again.  Grandma has him on a pretty short leash.  In saying that, I understand that he just had a new tree stand delivered from Cabelas on Friday.  It seems he thought he'd be the only one at home when the delivery came but wasnt and is now seriously busted.  Yeah, his eyes are gone and his stamina is shot so his moose hunting days are over.  I like your idea of him watching me bag a moose, its time he learns from a real hunter anyway.

I was talking to one of my cousins that lives up there and he told me that the terrain where "the fall" took place is pretty remote and rugged.  Not sure if you know this but the old man used one of his snowshoes to "paddle" the sled back to the truck.  Just picturing that kinda makes me laugh and he's getting quite a bit of good natured ribbing about it. Truth be known, he broke many of his golden rules that day and is damn lucky to have survived.  He had no cell phone, no side arm or rifle to fire distress shots, no matches to start a fire, no survival blanket, didnt let anyone know where he was going, had no water, or even warm clothes.  This man has preached emergency preparedness and survival techniques to all of us for as long as I can remember.....talk about not practicing what ya preach!!!  He was lucky

haha Yes, after the fact, I can see how a busted up, little ol' man, snowshoe paddling a plastic sled, would be entertaining. I'm thinking that could be a new competition for your winter family get together. Hell, it could be The Shed Sled relay!

Glad he's getting better. There is no doubt in my mind, he knew if he would set such a fine example of what not to do; from here out, you kids would remember to be prepared. Let that be a lesson to ya! ...and him.

Im glad to see that you two are getting a laugh out of this at my expense. Let me just say that i dont know what hurt worse that day, trying to walk or trying to paddle.  Let me tell ya BT, this house arrest sucks.  We got more weather approaching tomorrow into Wed and I got a ton of stuff to do.

Never too old to learn....I was careless and stupid that day for sure.

84 Lumber is still in business??  I thought they closed up years ago.  I might have to look into the NY moose sheds, they seem easier to find then the ones around here.

Aaaah, com'on T. You know we wouldn't be abusing you if we didn't think you were "out of the woods" so to speak. Turn about is fair play though. Since you were busted up far worse than when I stepped out of my tractor bucket, to even things up, I'll tell ya the story of how the the ex helped me try to electrocute myself....if it'll make you feel better.

Uh huh, winter is on it's way again. Threw a load of wood into the basement this morning, just in case.

This is the one and only operational 84 lumber store that I'm aware of. Sad to see them go, but Lowe's and Home D pot are both less expensive and Lowe's gives us Vets the 10% discount. They just can't compete.

Bring you're trailer w/ you when you bring your radio this way & we'll load you up a shed, or two!

We still have 4 or 5 down here between Orlando Jacksonville and Gainesville. The one here by me is right down the road from the base. Seems to do a lot of manufacturing work cause I always see trucks loaded with trusses rolling down the road.

May be their niche market down that way. Must not have made the switch up here. Or there's not quite the demand for trusses.

I agree on Stevens, he will be the man, and not have to worry about having to do something positive with the limited snaps. This will put him in an entirely different frame of mind. IMHO
