in a recent thread. The two that I find funny:

1.  Quarterback overthrows a wide open receiver - the beaten defensive back chirps away and wags his index finger

2. Down 5 touchdowns  - a defensive lineman makes a tackle for a 1 yd loss , beats his chest like he just won the Superbowl.

We use to have names for those type of players but in this Liberally Incorrect world we live in, I can no longer say it.  And yes, I did not misspell that, I have thrown out the Term "Politically Incorrect" and replaced it with "Liberally Incorrect" since the only ones complaining about such things are, well you know who they are.

In my day if anybody Cadillaced around the bases or carried on after every play like these guys do their careers would be over... U got regulated and in a hurry... All this look at me nonsense makes me sick... ESPN created this garbage for viewers. . It's a disgrace.. .

I'm not sure what game you guys are remembering... because I remember a ton of antics like lifting legs to piss on QBs, Icky shuffles, etc.

It just wasn't happening at PSU

I'm not a fan of all the preening, but we don't always know what's going on in their heads.  Maybe someone is beating his chest because he's trying to get his teammates fired up.

I am talking about in my day playing high school and college ball in the late 70's and early 80's...i remember my 1st college at bat in the fall of 1980...I was leading off and came into the batters box and started to dig in... The pitcher groused and cursed at me not to get too comfortable cause I am going down. . He proceeded to throw 4 straight under my chin.. no umpire warnings..  No nothing. ..i got beaned at least 4 times in the head during my career ... I can still remember the 3rd base coach picking up my batting helmet up the 3rd base line... As far as football was concerned you made a play and you got back into the huddle for the next play.. .you score a touchdown you hand the ball to the ref and either get to the sideline or prepare for the conversion...any extracurricular nonsense got handled... Guys would get high/lowed...crackbacked...u name it...you never showed up your opponent and they better not show you up... If it happened they got regulated...thats how it was done where I played..  This icky shuffle nonsense would got handled too where I played... It just didn't go on... And frankly I don't like it and I don't give a rip who does it. . It's a disgrace  .

I don't mind celebration, but I agree the "in your face" taunting stuff is too much.

As Vince Lombardi said to Paul Hornug, “Act like you’ve been there before.”

This is a result of the “every one gets  a trophy” philosophy.

I say, celebrate after the win. Unfortunately, this behavior is quite common.

A great example of class in victory is PSU’s very own Zain Retheford. After each victory and especially with his long time competitors, he would have his hand raised then shake the hand of his opponent. After his first NC while running back to the tunnels he handed a young fan his head gear. That’s how I’d like to see all competitors behave, act like you’ve been there and that includes Nickal and Cassar. Just my opinion though.

Get up, make sure all your body parts are properly aligned and go to the huddle ……….. you can't play if you have one foot pointing toward Memphis and the other pointing toward Tuscaloosa like Nick Fitzgerald in the 2017 Egg Bowl.

Definitely right about Zain. David Taylor acted quite interestingly at the Worlds. Guess I’m an old fashioned fellow. I don’t like what I am seeing. That behavior is also disrespectful to the opponent. Does anyone remember when the USC players were dancing on their sideline during the 4th quarter when they defeated PSU in the Rose Bowl?  Joe Pa was still coaching then.

Honestly, I see this type of behavior at a peak in Cam Newton. he's all about peacocking, doing his Superman chest thing, making first down gestures, and other such antics when his team is winning...

When his team is losing? He just sits there and pout like a spoiled brat, doesn't answer questions, and generally acts like he doesn't want any attention.

His first public pout was at the news conference after his team lost the Super Bowl.  It’s easy to be a good winner but showing class in defeat is something people like Newton don’t have the character to do.

If you think that was the first time he pouted, then you haven't been paying attention to Cam Newton. he's been like that all the way back to college

Proud to say that I’m not an expert on the behavior of Cam Newton. I have more important things to focus on.

Hardly need to focus on him...

If you're a fan of football, it's kinda hard to miss a kid who won a National Championship, the Heisman, Rookie of the Year and league MVP.

But, yeah okay.
