Apparently the previous tenants decided to play hardball and brought in a crew to gut the interior without informing the Herlochers, taking all tables and booths leaving only the bar. So much for the skeller remaining the same under the new owners. Personally, cheap move by the previous tenants. They didn't want to pay fair market value.
Why would they leave things behind that they own? Have to say if I was in that same situation I'd also take everything that belongs to me when I vacated.
Did they take the smell of decades old stale beer with them? LOL, back in the day that was comforting to me.
That didn’t own anything.  The same stuff was there when they took over
Well then it was pretty slimy of them take take that stuff.
Who owned the stuff if the owners didn't?
Got dog look who showed up, glad you found us snike1, we love getting into it with ya snike1 especially when Michigan loses lol
The owners of the building. When the building was bought, so was everything that comes with it including the furniture that was there before the recent Skeller tenants took over the operation of it. They had no right to take it, nor reason.
Duke had every right to take the tables, the chairs, the booze, the name and the liquor license. When he purchased the Rathskeller business many years ago that stuff was included. So he owns it. He did not own the building and if the bar is permanently attached to the building it stays.
If the new owners wanted any of the chairs and tables, they should have made Duke an offer that he would have accepted. As I understand it, they are trying to buy the name, but they have yet to make a bid acceptable to Duke.
