"Rose Bowl game organizers cleared the way for the College Football Playoff to expand to 12 teams starting in the 2024 season, informing CFP officials Wednesday they are willing to alter agreements for the first two years of the larger playoff."
Thatvwas a big hurdle to expanding early, and it's now gone.
Their apparently was also a statement saying due to Ohio State being theit last year, and a lot recently, they may take Penn State instead.
Apparently, the Rose Bowl was not overly happy with OSU not selling their allotment of tickets last year. When in doubt, follow the money trail boys. Always.
That’s some good news Roam, I can’t wait till we get a 12 team playoff. Just imagine the fun it would be right now if we had a 12 team playoff because looking at the top 12 I believe there’s 7 or 8 teams that could beat Georgia because Georgia struggles on offense. I believe Michigan got something for Georgia this year.
The Rose Bowl would be a heckofa lot better than the Cotton Bowl.
If we do get to go to the Rose I hope it’s against someone other than Washington. I don’t see that matchup as being any better than playing Tulane or UCF.
@psujoe I would’ve loved to play Clemson, Tennessee or Alabama. Washington I believe is better than Tulane but just get a NY6 bowl we can’t control who we play and a cotton bowl win is a good win.
I’d love to play Utah if we go to the Rose but the ultimate destination would be the Orange vs Clemson and I believe our D would dominate that game.
If USC loses tonight we would play Utah in the Rose Bowl. If not, Washington would be the Pac representative against us or OSU.
If OSU goes to the Rose, I don't think the Orange Bowl would pick us over Tennssee. UT travels well and is a good story this year, however they may reconsider due to their QB being out for the year.
Gonna be a good Rose Bowl; D' will have to play lights out. O' is gonna have to score points. Practically a month to get ready, ain't no excuses!
A player sits this one out, well sorry, IMO, leave him at home and good riddance. Just how I think about it at 0500.
@psu61 I don’t believe we’ll have anybody sitting out. I understand JP Jr reason why he’s sitting but I don’t see anybody else sitting out. JP played that last game for us and he did great I’m proud of him. Looks like Washington might be better on offense than Utah but them defenses in the PAC aren’t that good that’s why I’ve been saying USC was overrated because I’ve watched them play this year.

No they arent. Ohio State and USC looked pretty similar. The only difference is USC had to play the team that beat them again, and Ohio State didn't have to play Michigan again
If the Big Ten had the same type of championship game where the 2 best teams play rather than division winners, Ohio State very likely has 2 losses as well.
Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about losing a championship game, knocking you out of the playoff pic. While say O$U didn't play, but backs into the final 4.
Penn St, Clemson or Alabama will destroy TCU. Big 12 is garbage

Yet Kansas Staye destroyed Missouri, who was better than Auburn and Iowa State beat Big Ten West runner up Iowa. But I guess actual results dont matter.
Alabama needed a last 2nd field goal to escape Texas Against their backup quarterback, TCU was never threatened. You say you don't like the eye test, but you certainly use it a lot.
Oklahoma usually gets killed in the playoffs but this is as bad as I’ve seen the big 12. Iowa stinks and I’ve never said they didn’t. I thought auburn beat Missouri and we beat Auburn down and could’ve beat ‘em worse had James Franklin wanted too. You can’t compare games played early in the year in week one to the playoffs Roam the intensity of the games are different. You don’t get the same Alabama team in week one as you do in the playoffs you know that.

What nice circular logic... You say results on the field matter, but when you see results from the field you explain it away by saying "early season"
If the Big 12 is so bad, why are they 4-2 against the SEC over the past 2 years? What, do last years bowl games mean nothing now too?
...and Iowa was one of the better record teams in the Big Ten. So if you don't think they're a good team, then how can you say the big 10 is a good conference?
Penn St, Clemson or Alabama will destroy TCU. Big 12 is garbage
The ACC and B1G west are garbage and have been for years. Purdue would get destroyed by TCU and K State.
55-10
When they finally move to this 12 team playoff format ... will there still be Conference Championship Games?
@roaminglion He only thinks the Big12 is garbage because Tex and OK aren’t the big dogs in the conference right now.

I actually would love it if they stopped having them
