This could be addition by subtraction if true.

He almost retired a couple years ago.  He wanted to stick around and develop some of his recruits. I think it was Chase Young he was really enjoying coaching.  That will be a big loss. He was always a good recruiter.

I can understand he was bitter not to be cosidered for HC after Joe but personally I never forgave him for bailing on PSU.... FOR OHIO STATE NO LESS.... just when the program needed him the most.

@lakerie

I believe being passed over for the head coaching position was not the only reason he bailed.  He and old Joe were pretty close and I think he was pretty miffed at the way PSU (the BOT) fired JoePa & made him the scapegoat.  Aside from the great deal he got from TOSU, jumping to our rival was a pretty good way to stick it to the a-holes!  I don't blame him a bit & wish him a long, healthy & happy retirement.

@rip thank you for that clarification Bob, I will now re-instate him on my Christmas card list which I am sure Larry will appreciate.

LJ may very well retire.  Some Ohio State analysts feel he has under performed the past 2 years.  DL did not pressure opposing QBs so Ohio State had to bring LBs to compensate for the weaker DL performance.  DL performance against UM was particularly bad.

From everything I've read in the past 2 years, the linebackers were the problem in the defense... not the DL. Watching them this year, I'd say that was true. Their LB's are terrible at filling the holes and meeting the RBs, and usually do so 4-5 yards down the field.

However the DL in the Michigan game was very poor.
