Per Penn Live, not very surprising given the emergence of the other backs.
Glad he did it now, much better for him and PSU. He wont last long in the Portal.
Not surprising at all, I always thought he was a mismatch for this type of offense.
Still think he'd be a perfect fit for an air-raid type offense, and Mississippi State will be putting that in under Leach.
@roaminglion
Mississippi State will have losing seasons with leach the defenses are to good. Leach will be fired in 3 years.
Said by everyone every single time he's been hired.
Defenses are too good? Alabama gave up how many to Auburn? LSU gave up how many to Ole Miss????
I thought everyone praised him during the season, how great he was. Hmmm, sounds like something else is going on.
im looking at their schedule next year and I don’t see 6 wins. I believe the SEC defenses were down this past year but that doesn’t mean they will be next year. I say they were down and they still went 7-2 in bowl games winning the NC. Or were they 8-2? Lol

Hmm, sounds like wishful thinking from an anti-PSU troll. Slade had the least amount of carries of the 4 scholarship RB's at 47. Even Levis the backup QB had more carries at 51. The general consensus is more surprising if he stayed. "Something else going on", the same sh$t you said last year while Penn State goes 11-2.
I'm no Randy Edsall fan by any stretch, but I kinda like his thoughts on the transfer portal:
"I'd rather go with high school kids or junior college guys," Edsall said, according to Alex Putterman of the Hartford Courant. "Guys going into the portal, they've got issues. ... That's why they're going into the portal. "
"Sometimes these guys from the portal think that they're enabled and entitled to something. You know, maybe it didn't work out because you didn't stay there and finish."
I disagree with him, There maybe a few cases where what he says is true but for the most part they are...
Grad transfers. (Is he saying he thinks players that graduate have issues?)
or
Some that are very good players that are covered up by players that are little better. (Is he saying a player that wants to better his chance at reps has issues?)
Broad brush Randy...
I just don't know how college football survived for 150 years without a transfer portal ??????????
Transfer was always there but the new approach removed this..
Before, athletes required the go-ahead from their college or university to leave and seek out new scholarships. This led to some coaches intentionally obstructing the departures of some talented players
I said TRANSFER PORTAL!
I've read that the Big Ten presidents are in favor of removing the 1 year sit for transfers in the 5 sports that have them (Football, M/W Bball, Ice Hockey, & Baseball). They want to allow first time transfers to go anywhere and play immediately.

It's an absolute...
I was in favor of making everyone sit a year fair to everyone... This is just the other end of the spectrum fair to everyone.
I would still support the everyone sit a year over this but if this goes through then so be it...
i would expect Ohio State to vigorously object to this. This is an entitlement provided for them and only them.
I generally don't like the transfer portal, but in someone's situation like Ricky Slade, it's really for the best. He's a very talented athlete, but for our offense and with our roster, he doesn't have the opportunity to make an impact here like he would somewhere else. Wish him all the best.
Did Slade land anywhere? Also, did we lose any other guys to transfers? I can't remember.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see him next year at VT
does he have to sit a year Roam? If the ncaa is going to put that rule into effect it needs to take place immediately not 2 or 3 years down the road IMO

I would assume he does.
