I don't know the terms of this contract as they gave no details in the piece but I can tell you that Cignetti's extension in no way deters another suitor from coming in and poaching him...15 million buyout is a joke in today's coaching market...I am telling ya if Penn State wants Cignetti they can get him...I am seeing that the buyout number is the key to how serious a program is in retaining their coach...I see some of these new contracts with 80 million buyout figures so a 15 million buyout is merely a face saving gesture...
Absolutely Underlion...but this isn't unusual...Cignetti is still in play...A 15 million buyout is nothing...That was a save face contract by Indiana and a set the bar contract for Cignetti...He more or less said by signing that deal if you want me here is what you are going to have to pay to get me...If I am Penn State I am there with the brinks truck...I would be making him an offer that he can't refuse...

Sadly Rhule isn't eliminated by that contract...see Cignetti's deal...A 15 million buyout in this current environment is peanuts...Nebraska did the same thing as Indiana did...Purely a face saving move...When you are talking about a billion dollar investment in stadium and facility renovations 15 million is like pissing into the ocean...I will say this until a coach is named...If they don't go to Bloomington, Indiana and make Cignetti an offer he can't refuse it would be borderline criminal...You can't be fooling around here with unproven candidates...This hire has to be a grand slam...
