Beau Pribula still has a long way to go to prove James Franklin wrong
While that group may have been right that Pribula was a better fit for Kotelnicki’s system, which needed a mobile quarterback to be fully actualized. Pribula didn’t exactly take off when given the opportunity as Eli Drinkwitz’s starting QB at Mizzou last year.
Sure, he had the ankle injury, but even before that, his lack of downfield passing was a harsh cap on Missouri’s offense. When in a neutral or a positive game script, the threat of Pribula’s legs and his accuracy in the quick passing game can be devastating, keeping the defense in constant conflict. However, when he was forced to be a true dropback passer without the threat of the QB run or play-action, Pribula tended to crumble.
At Missouri, he completed just 43 of his 85 attempts over 10 yards downfield for just 9.3 yards per attempt with six touchdowns to eight interceptions. Those pedestrian numbers weren’t enough for him to land another opportunity in the SEC, but maybe he could unlock his game in the ACC. If he does, and holds onto the job, Penn State fans will love watching him give it to his former coach in the Commonwealth Clash.

I certainly never lamented him leaving, other than wanting a quality backup. I think that is what he is, a quality backup. If I had to compare him to anyone, I's say he's the temu version of Trace McSorley. Not as an insult though, I just see him as a less talented player in the same mold.
Great for a couple games if you need him, but once you see him on tape and can plan for him, not enough there to overcome it against good defenses.
Again, he is a good QB. Just not a great one IMO.
I believe Missouri was 7-1 when he got hurt and he also was a first year starter at another team. I agree he’s not a QB that’s going to have great stats but he is a QB that can move the chains if he’s in the right offense. We’ll see what he does this year. I believe he’s a better runner than McSorely but he didn’t have the arm McSorely did but with his legs and an ok arm with the 2 stud RB’s we had could’ve made him dangerous at Penn St had he been given the chance. The only thing we know for sure is when he was in the game the chains moved. Alabama was his only loss if I remember correctly and Alabama did make the playoffs.
Agreed, and our team seemed to have an extra bounce in their step when he was in there. I wouldn't say I lamented, but I was peed to see him go, lol!

Prinula also had the best running back in the SEC behind him, the dude was 2nd in the nation for rushing yards.

Having a QB that the defense has to worry about also helps a good RB like Missouri had. Having a QB that can run and throw really helps a good RB and that’s exactly what Missouri had in Pribula. Hopefully the dude can stay healthy and we’ll see what he does this year.

@been-there-ii I’d have to know what kind of money he’s making at Virginia to answer that question but what I do know for sure is Missouri was 6-1 when he was the starter the only loss was to Alabama and Missouri was in position to win that game late but he threw an interception and the Tide did make the playoffs. Since Alabama could beat Missouri doesn’t mean the rest of the teams could while he was healthy. Missouri took a step back after he got hurt and the record proves that I’m right.

Also, how is the FACT that the RB had a 300 yard game, and 100+ yard games WITHOUT Pribula a speculation? Lastly, it is a FACT Missouri beat 0 ranked teams, and Pribula beat 0 teams with a winning record.

Also, you convinently leave out this fact too: Pribula played 2 ranked teams, lost both. Their backup played 2 ranked teams, lost both. The most points they scored against an SEC team? The backup was playing. The 2nd most points against an SEC team? The backup was playing that game too.
Seems like the backup could move the chains, and score more points?

I am a little shook up here...I had to go get me a Red Stripe...I have been away from the forum for a little bit and I come back to see 2 posts from Roam that I am in total agreement with...I fear the apocalypse is coming...I hated to see Beau go because he was a very good backup QB...In my opinion I hated to see Grunk go more than Beau as I think Grunk is a far better QB...Roam hit the nail on the head...Pribula reminded me of a poor man's Trace McSorley...He plays with guts and is a winner but doesn't have Trace's ability...Roam is also correct that Pribula had one of the best running back tandems and running games to lean on in the country...They leaned on their Running Game and Defense to win ballgames...I believe Missouri had a pretty good defense too...I will concede one point and this is an indictment on the coaching staff...Pribula fit the offense better than Allar and to me that was criminal that they didn't change the offense to fit Allar's strengths...Also one final note on this whole QB saga...I have gotten some and also read some reports out of Pittsburgh just hammering the Penn State coaching staff on how they developed or should I say DIDN'T develop Drew Allar...I will end this post by saying this...I have been hammering PSU for not stepping up the NIL game and competing for this top talent...To spend roughly half of what OSU does is criminal in my opinion...With that being said I been doing some research and asking around about Campbell and the staff he has brought with him and assembled...I am optimistic for one reason...I hear over and over again that this guy and his staff are top shelf when it comes to scouting and developing players...Never underestimate the importance of that...Programs and Organizations that have top scouting departments and player development personnel almost always win...It seems that this is what this guy brings to the table...I am really excited for this season just to see what this guy has in his tool kit...I am expecting good fundamental football...
@the-funeral-director Grunk didn’t have a problem throwing the ball down field and IMO Grunk looks more of a prostyle QB that Allar. AK and the WR’s were never the problem, James Franklin and DA were the 2 problems. If Grunk was able to run the offense then DA should’ve been able to run the offense.

As you can see Grunk wasn’t a very good runner lol DA was a much better runner that Grunk. These were Grunks rushing numbers.
McSorely was also one of the best QB’s to play at Penn State and he did spend 6 years in the NFL in a league you don’t even sniff unless you got something to offer. Trace was an awesome college QB and was a great fit for what we needed in a QB at the time and Pribula might’ve fit the offense better had he been given a chance. We won’t never know.
