I disagree...I am against a salary cap...You put a salary cap in there will be cheating like what went on before with the Dodge Chargers and the bags of money...Now EVERYBODY is on the same level...Why do you think SEC is crying so loudly? They are the only conference crying about this...Mark my words if they put a cap in place there will be cheating like there was before...Why do you think Saban got out?
@the-funeral-director Saban retired because he was gettin old and the game was changing for the worse in his opinion. When some schools have more money how is that fair? Salary cap is why the NFL is great as for competitive play on the field. Just my opinion
If they get caught cheating punish them enough to where they won’t cheat again but we both know they’ll never do Ohio St or Michigan like that.
I’m totally against a salary cap too. The only people wanting a salary cap are you whiners from the south. You have no way of cheating now and have lost your competitive advantage so now all of a sudden you want regulations.
So pathetic and hilarious
If they get caught cheating punish them enough to where they won’t cheat again but we both know they’ll never do Ohio St or Michigan like that.
Yea OK. Let’s pretend those are the only schools that would escape punishment.
The teams with the most money will dominate and it will be a handful of teams that will have a chance. If Penn State has NIL money problems what does that tell ya?
@southern-psu-fan who gives a shit? We tried making things equal and the only thing that happened was schools from a certain region constantly skirting the rules and trying to find ways for an advantage while the NCAA did nothing to prevent it.
Tell your southern buddies to stop being a bunch of wussies and stop with the whining. I warned you years ago that when things were equal the North was going to kick your asses worse than they did in 1864.
@psujoe I’m pulling for you to be right as long as it’s Penn St kicking the ass!
Lets keep this thing real and honest...Tricky Nicky Saban got out because he saw the handwriting on the wall...He had no advantage anymore with the cars and bags of money on the quiet...jimbo Fisher outed him when he bought that player that Saban thought he had locked up...I am no Jimbo Fisher fan but he called him out right to his face and Tricky Nicky had nothing to come back with because he knew the jig was up...That is why he got out...They were playing fast and loose and now that is all done...It is all out in the open now and as you can see the Alabama's of the world aren't on top anymore...Why do you think that is? The SEC is the only conference really bellyaching and crying over this NIL situation...The only thing a cap will do is allow them to cheat again...Putting Saban in charge of such a committee is like putting a fox in charge of guarding the chicken coop...He is the last person who should be heading any committee regarding NIL rules and regulations...I think the current situation is just fine...Let the free market decide...If you got the money then let it rip...It's all out in the open...The problem is the SEC conference can handle it cause they can't pull the bullshit they were pulling all those years...Dodge Charger U is out of business now...Lets face it...It was no secret what he was doing...EVERYBODY knew the story...If you signed with Bama you got a Dodge Charger...That was just the start...Well now EVERY school can give their kids Dodge Chargers or whatever car they can afford to give em...EVERY school can pay a kid whatever they can afford to pay them...EVERYBODY has the same opportunity...All out in the open...I don't see why any changes need to be implemented...For all you capitalists and free market guys out there this is the free market at work...I LOVE IT!!!
@the-funeral-director the free market and capitalism still have rules the government makes the rules to keep things fair. Most of the schools out there don’t have the money Oregon and Texas does. I’m willing to give it a shot but with no salary cap I just can’t see college football being competitive in 5 years we’ll have 5 or 6 teams with a chance to win the NC. We already have the NFL players makings millions of dollars and the NFL even has a salary car. I hope y’all are right but I don’t see how this will work but I’ll admit I don’t really know how much money colleges have I’m just going on hearing some coaches including James Franklin saying they need more money.
Southern, salary cap or no salary cap, I believe college football will get what it deserves for, deciding to be "college" football and opting for NFL without personnel rules.
@the-funeral-director I can’t find anywhere where Alabama players were getting free dodge chargers while Nick Saban was coaching there FD. I ain’t never heard anything about Alabama players getting free dodge chargers but I did read where an Alabama coach loaned a kid $500 which is absolutely against the rules and I called them out on it on the forum. I believe me and roam talked about it at the time because Alabama got away with it but I ain’t never heard of Alabama players getting free dodge chargers. Where did you get that information?
The last 30 years Alabama has been caught cheating they cheated just as bad as Jimmie Johnson did in nascar and I’m sure some shady stuff went on like the coach loaning a kid $500 but free dodge chargers might be a big stretch while Saban was there but if you have proof please share it with me.
it's not a secret...EVERY player got a Dodge Charger when they signed with Bama...Jimbo Fisher called him out on it...I am not a Jimbo Fisher fan by any means but I have to laugh every time I think of that presser...Tricky Nicky Saban was crying and bellyaching that A&M had the best team money could buy and Fisher let him have it...Classic...I even believe ole Jimbo alluded to Dodge Charger U in the presser...That shut Saban up and then he retired after that season...I laugh every time I think of that presser...
Well if Jimbo Fisher said it... it must be true!it's not a secret...EVERY player got a Dodge Charger when they signed with Bama...Jimbo Fisher called him out on it...I am not a Jimbo Fisher fan by any means but I have to laugh every time I think of that presser...Tricky Nicky Saban was crying and bellyaching that A&M had the best team money could buy and Fisher let him have it...Classic...I even believe ole Jimbo alluded to Dodge Charger U in the presser...That shut Saban up and then he retired after that season...I laugh every time I think of that presser...
Well you have a point there...HOWEVER...The telling thing about that whole incident was Saban's silence and lack of rebuttal...To me that speaks volumes and after that season Saban got out of coaching...I always went by the old adage that if it walked like a duck, quacked like a duck and shit like a duck it's a duck...Like I said...I don't want any NIL cap because all that is going to happen is these teams will cheat and circumvent the cap with no penalty...Why do you think these SEC teams are crying and pitching a fit? Now EVERYBODY can pay these kids whatever they want and can afford and it is all out in the open...Saban knew the jig was up and that is why he got out...His game was over...

Seems odd everyone wanted the same ride
This isn't a secret...This has been out in the open for years...You old PennLive guys remember when I told ya'll about ole cousin Urban Meyer liking the coeds and that is why he got run out of Florida...Didn't take ole cousin Urban long to get his ass in hot water out in Columbus playing with some young coeds ass in a bar...There is a reason why Tricky Nicky Saban was getting all the 5 star guys...His secret was a simple one...Every kid got a Dodge Charger and depending on where you were in the pecking order decided how large your bag of money was that you got...It wasn't called Dodge Charger U for nothing...Ole Jimbo Fisher called him out and he never responded or said another peep on the matter...That's all you need to know...Further more he quit coaching after that season because he saw the handwriting on the wall...He no longer had the advantage to lure the top kids in...He was like a mob boot legger during prohibition offering liquor to the masses as he was the only game in town until the liquor he was selling was legalized and now EVERYBODY could sell what he was selling...All you need to know about Tricky Nicky Saban is that him and Billy Boy Belicheat are besties...Like my old man always said...You don't see Eagles flying around with Turkey Vultures...Scumbags roll with other Scumbags...2 biggest frauds in coaching history...

Isn’t that what we had in the last playoff format?Mostly the same 5 or 6 teams annually competing with a few others for a shot to win the NC? The NCAA has proven over and over that it is unable to regulate anything and any type of cap or system regulated by them will be a joke just like the last time. Like I said above the only schools and fans whining are the ones that know they no longer have the upper hand. Southerners need to just shutup and accept the continued beatings that are coming their way.
@psujoe TCU,Clemson, Auburn, LSU, Florida, Alabama, Ohio St, USC, Oklahoma, Florida St, Tennessee, Miami, ND, VT and Oregon had a chance to win the NC since 1999. If things stay the same for the next 25 years we’ll have around 4 or 5 teams that will have a chance. Some teams will sneak in the playoffs like SMU and Boise did but we both know they didn’t have a chance. Money will dominate just like it usually does. I believe 1999 when the BCS thing started.
@southern-psu-fan so 15 schools in 20 years or whatever it was had a chance? That’s even less than what I’m saying will have a chance in this new system. Just because you spend a lot of money it doesn’t mean you’re going to compete every year, ask the Redskins and Cowboys how that worked out for them. There may be teams that will be contenders more than others but there will also be other teams that sneak in every couple years too. It’s no different than the old system but the power has shifted and it pisses you southerners off.
@psujoe True! I feel as profoundly sad about the Cowboys, as I do for the Yankee$$$ buying a team that doesn't quite live up to their expectations.

- Saban didn't "go quiet", he has continued to talk about NIL.
- I don't understand why he would need to say anything else specific to Texas A&M... what would be the point? Just to troll Jimbo?
- He didn't retire after that season. He stated that about A&M before the 2022 season, he retired TWO seasons later after the 2023 season.
- He was 71/72 years old when he retired. I'm sorry, but it's laughable to imply he was scared or ran away. Can't just conveniently forget he's old, I mean like past the age of retirement. LOL. Not many coaches even coach until 70, let alone past it.
