No mention of a tough game with Penn State when your read about Ohio State and Indiana in 2021.  Well, I beg to differ. Yes, they started out 0-5 and ended 4-0.  But lets remember this, they had Indiana beat, came back against Ohio State within 1 possession and then....well not sure about the next three games, guess they just fell apart sht the bed.  BUT, after 5 games, look at how many young players stepped and gained valuable experience.  It lead to a 4-0 finish, and say what you want, but that win over Michigan on the road was a turning point and I don't care HOW bad people want to say Michigan was last year.  They still have good players and that is still a tough place to play.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/30781980/how-2021-way-too-early-college-football-top-25-teams-make-playoff-run

They have a lot to prove and a lot to work on between now and kickoff.  There is plenty of talent returning along with some key guys like Dotson. I think Penn State is going to shock a lot of folks come this fall! Might not make the playoffs, but don't think for a minute names like MD and Nebraska are going to bee in the same sentence with PENN STATE when next season comes around!

That's all I got say about this for now!

GO STATE!

I agree 100% about beating Michigan that’s a big win and it lead to a 4 game win streak. The young RB Lee grew up fast and when the kid found his stride we started winning. Losing Brown and Cain was devastating especially when it’s true freshmen playing behind’em but Lee and Holmes got it done after they got their feet wet. Nothing really went our way this past year but something  good still happened, winning 4 straight games and beat Michigan. Great day are ahead!

I also believe we’re doing great in the transfer portal this year James Franklin working his magic again.

And should we fall short, we can always blame Hack or fall back on the this tried and true line: "Those of us that are close to the program all knew that 2021 wasnt going to be our year".

Penn state will be ok next year. The opening game against Wisconsin is going to be a back breaker. I'm seeing a 8-4 type of team, 9-3. Hopefully Covid doesn't wreak havoc in the season.

I think Rutgers stood them up and put them in OT? That's not good.

@forum-titan. Rutgers didn’t get it done and Penn State did that’s all that matters...just win!

@southern-psu-fan...That is true southern, but he's overstating the "closeness" of the OSU game..OSU had complete control of game from start to finish, and appeared to be toying down the stretch, giving the game  a closeness ( to some) that wasnt really there..Any neutral observer didnt really view it as anywhere near close, the final score not reflecting the difference in talent level of the two teams..

And even though Tighten claims to be a fan of Duh Ohio State University, he initially implied he was a Rutgers fan, so he's got his rose colored glasses on.

No doubt, Ohio State fielded way more talent and had the Lion's in trouble from the beginning.   BUT, the Lion's got it back within 8, call it any way you want to and the Lion's won the second half....19-17.  Going down 21-6 in the first half was too much to overcome with the lack of experience that they had.  Even if this game was later in the season Ohio State would have still won.

My point was not that this game was as close as the score said.  My point was Penn State had a very young inexperienced team and hung in there.  NOW that these kids got valuable playing time and ended 4-0 after an embarrassing 0-5 start, I wouldn't count them out of anything next season.  Heck, even the 4-0 run wasn't all that spectacular based on the teams they beat.  But it was a 4-0 run and the experience and taste of winning will carry over into this season.

You circle the whisky game.  They start out with a win here, they will be hard to beat the rest of the season! Lot's of talent returning, still need some more playing time, but a year later with another year of practice under their belt is going to make quite a difference!

Go STATE!

@mtnittanylion  Fair enough   WE just looked at it from different perspectives ..From your perspective   PSU did battle all night right to the end, and did gain valuable experience, Id agree with that..Finishing season strong will be invaluable going into next season..

Ball State.....7-0 run with a win over #22 San Jose in their bowl game to finish the season. I hope we have fans in the stadium for this game!

Not sure about Auburn, I think they lost quite a few players this year. But still, they recruit well, so I am sure they have some good talent coming back.

This is not an easy start to the seasons for the Lions.  A win over Wisconsin will be crucial if they have any thought (or hope) of shocking us all!  I really believe this is the biggest game of their season and will set the tone for what is to come.  A loss here and then Ball State up next?  I don't know that I like that scenario at all!

Go State!

PS:  This is why I am saying to circle the Wisconsin game.

@mtnittanylion. Auburn also has a new coach but I still believe auburn will be a tougher game than Wisconsin.

After 2020 I believe James Franklin and the team will be ready for Wisconsin and we put a good butt kicking on ‘em. I believe Wisconsin lost their QB, right?

I think at this level for the most part and aside from flat out just having a superior team, most wins and losses can be tied to the mental/psyche preparation when teams are basically equal. I'll never forget one game that Corso picked Mich over Penn State, saying it is nothing more than the helmet that Penn State can't get over and that is the only difference: PSU lost when they should have won., IMO. Its funny how a word or image can strike fear and a psychological loss before the game even starts with a word, or color scheme (helmet) image when certain teams are referenced e.g. 'Bama', Oklahoma, The Buckeyes helmet and all, in the past ' Here come the Noles', Michigan's helmet, just to name the ones that have a tradition of winning. No different than when some teams face up with the PSU wrestling team and the initial thought is, we gonna lose.

@psu61. Michigan definitely got in Penn States head for about 10 years and the refs didn’t help any with all the BS bad calls we got when we did have a chance to win. I believe between 97-2004 we just didn’t have the QB to beat Michigan. 99, 02, and 05 we just didn’t get it done for one reason or another but we did have a great chance to win these years against Michigan. Look how Ohio St has dominated Michigan the last 20 years sometimes teams get a good run on other teams it happens.
