Is it our pass play designs or lack of receiver/QB talent? Other games I watched had receivers running wide open all over the field. Ours could not get separation.

1. Offensive line sucks, Doesnt give a lot of time
2. Running game is big play only, we are among the worst teams in running success rate. That means when we run it's usually 3 yds or less, and once in a while a really big play. A defense like Michigan is not going to give up that big play, and we couldn't run so it allowed them to put more people in the defensive backfield.
3. Franklin's insistence on establishing the run rather than mixing it up. Yurcich has done this in every other stop, except here. Let me repeat that, Yurcich has designed offenses and ran them according to his personnel at 5 other places, yet here he insists on run first. So did Ciorocca... So one needs to ask if it's really them or if it's Franklin.

Allen is the guy that has proven he can run inside and get the tough yards but I don’t really remember him getting significant playing time yesterday. All I can remember is Singleton constantly trying to bounce it outside

I can guarantee you this nonsense running back rotation is not Yurcich. He has not had a rotation like that at any place hes ever been since 2011. He is not had an offense like this, Or had play calling like this with any offense hes ever run anywhere else since 2011.
This constant We need to run, establish the run, use 3 or 4 running backs nonsense is all Franklin.
@roaminglion when did Franklin start this crap because Barkley was the man, Sanders was the man and Journey Brown was the man and the last 2 or 3 years we want to rotate the RB’s? Earlier in the year I thought Singleton was the best but today I believe Allen is the best and he’s not gettin the ball when he should be the man. Let the best man play

He started this rotation nonsense in 2019 commas a 19, but eventually settled on journey Brown in that year. When journey Brown retired before 2020, the rotation has been ever since.
Just imagine also looking back and realizing Franklin had Micah Parsons on a stupid idiotic linebacker rotation. I believe Parsons actually made all big 10 and he only started one game, for some unknown stupid reason.

That all tells you he must be making promises to recruits to get them to commit. With the portal available 365 days a year he also knows players can enter it at any time if they feel he’s not living up to his promises.

Exactly, Southern. I don't think Jimmy is doing that. Either he can't make up his mind on who is better or he's just trying to keep kids happy.
@rip trying to keep everybody happy is gettin us beat! I want to keep Singleton happy because the kid is a good RB but I’d rather win games than keep him happy. Remoh was right about Allen that kid is a beast and he should be the starter.
I'd go with Allen myself. Either way, pick one and keep him in. A good running back needs to carry the ball and stay on the field. He's not going to be able to get in any kind of rhythm if you're jerking him in and out and cooling him off standing on the sidelines.
I know this isn't is going to be a fair analysis/ statement, but I am not sure about this kid. I am seeing signs of a Hack-n-Sack and this scares me! I think Penn State needs a duel threat QB! Personally, they wasted this kid on Saturday. Correct me if I am wrong, but if he didn't play, he could have still red shirted? I think he needs another year of maturity.
IMO.....Christian V should be the #2 and he is the one that should have taken over when Cliff got hurt ( or what ever happened ) against Michigan. My goodness, did you see ALL of the hits Young took against the Vols? One after another and he just got right back up and kept going. Yep, they lost that game, but THIER QB never left them!! Cliff is done, he can't beat Ohio State, he will bow out if things get tough against Minny and I think he has just stuck around too long. He has done some really good things at Penn State, but after the Iowa game last year, he has not been the QB he once was.
What do I know!!! I am just tired of the same old same old and I don't think it will ever change under Franklin.

CV has looked good the times we’ve watched him play and he sits the bench. They let Parsons sit the bench for KoaFarmer and they’re letting Allen sit the bench for Singleton and sometimes Lee and I’m pretty sure Allen is the best RB after 6 games so it’s hard for me to trust the coaches telling me CV is the third best QB on the team. And then there’s the Will Levis chit, smh. I hate the way I feel about the coaching staff right now but ole southern is a show me guy and I’m not seeing much the last 2 and a half years. It’s hard to get any confidence watching what I watch in games like Saturday when it’s happening to many Saturdays
I’m talking about playing good teams not Minnesota and Maryland just to be clear.
