I'd be using that stat while recruiting between now and the next Superbowl!
A former Penn State student-athlete is guaranteed to earn a Super Bowl ring for the fifth consecutive NFL season. In fact, at least two will do so when a league champion emerges after the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers meet Feb. 2 in Miami.
Kansas City, which claimed the AFC crown Sunday with a win over the Tennessee Titans, features a pair of Penn State football products: safety Jordan Lucas and offensive lineman Stefen Wisniewski. San Francisco punched its ticket to South Florida by beating the Green Bay Packers and boasts a trio of Nittany Lions alumni: defensive tackle Kevin Givens, kicker Robbie Gould, and defensive end Anthony Zettel.
No collegiate program produced more players than Penn State on active rosters between these two contenders. PSU has a strong history of representation in American sports' greatest spectacle.
Most recruits will know that Super Bowl representation is a stat always in flux. Players make it it the pros mostly because of having gifted athletic skills. Hard work is a factor but almost all those guys work hard. Getting to play in the Super Bowl is being lucky enough to be on that team.
Anyway, I want to recruit kids that are more interested in an excellent education and attending a college that has a successful track record of seeing their players graduate.
