Matt Campbell adds Michael Mauti to his first Penn State staff, which now has 9 Lions lettermen
I believe we’re in great hands baby. I don’t mind outsiders but I also love seeing former Penn St players on the coaching staff. Just win!
i will always like Michael Mauti. He was a huge reason PS football didn't implode when Paterno was screwed by the BOT.
He wasn't hired as a coach, he was hired as a front office guy. Will be handling football engagement. More like a liason between fans, boosters, and the players/coachesMatt Campbell adds Michael Mauti to his first Penn State staff, which now has 9 Lions lettermen

Great hire! He comes from good stock. I enjoyed watching his dad, Rich, play for us back in the mid 70's.
Southern, Thanks for the post. I think it is good for the program to have former Lettermen involved. If Coach Campbell's intention is to build a sense of community, having those with loyalty to the program throughout the organizational structure is important. They will certainly interact with the players on the roster and those who are being recruited. And sometimes, the young guys just need to hear a good "back in the day" story.
If done properly, there is a potential for fewer bowl opt-outs and less NIL turmoil.
Naming the field after JoePa would have went a long way to this end, but no - the powers that be had to sell the rights to a building supply retailer, LMAO!!
@rip Joe Paterno field 😁 He did say he didn’t want the stadium named after him but he didn’t say anything about the field. Lol…I wouldn’t be surprised if MC didn’t push for it.
IMO you don't honor a person by doing something he would not have wanted. At that point, you are doing it for you, not them.
That is why I never liked the statue either, he didn’t want it. I liked his name on the library, which is how he preferred to be honored and remembered.
Don't know as if he ever said anything about naming the field. It has nothing to do with what I want. Just thought it would be a great way to build on the past history & legacy of all the letter men who played under his guidance. Matt McGloin and many other former players openly advocated for it. It's amazing how other Universities have named their field after former coaches. Coaches who Joe beat on the field. in the record books and most importantly while running an honorable program.
Next we’ll be naming the rink inside Pegula Arena or the court inside the Bryce Jordan Center ? Then after that we can start selling naming rights to individual parking lots and squares on the sidewalks !
They already did the squares on the sidewalk. Actually it was bricks in someplace on campus. Alumni were asked to contribute money to put you name on a brick.
