This post is mostly for Roam, since he explains things in a very clear and concise manner. The #1 recruit going to OSU, just said he's opting out of his senior year in HS and enrolling early at OSU. IS he even allowed to do this ... I seem to remember a person requiring a High School Diploma to be eligible for scholarships and grant in aid packages? What am I missing here?

I believe that he is just sitting out his his high school football season, but still attending his high school and will graduate in December. After that he would then enroll at OSU just like any other early enrollee.
I would assume a kid COULD enroll at OSU in fall if they wanted, but would have had to completed all of their HS requirements a semester earlier than even the kids who leave for spring semester.
@bobs-dimpled-chin
Also thanks for saying that! I try to lay things out in a respectful way as well, but I am sure I don't always succeed. 🤣 🤣 🤣Â

Senior season Bob not Senior year. Just read the report.
So I’m assuming going forward we’ll see more kids not playing football their SR year in high school because they’ll want to get ready for college kinda like college players not playing in bowl games trying  to get ready for the NFL? Or maybe this is a 1 time deal because of coronavirus?
@southern-psu-fan Hopefully a 1 time deal, I think it will hurt high school football if it becomes the norm.
Rush, rush, rush...everyone today is in such a big hurry! In the good old days it was play on the JV team your Frosh year in HS, then 3 years on the varsity. Graduate and start college in September. Play Freshman football, then play 3 years of varsity ball. Graduate and move on to pro football (if you're good enough). Â
