Big 10 officiating. B10 says video evidence supported putting 1 second back on the clock. It must be double secret video or the synchronization of the clock to the video is off on what the rest of the world was shown. The B10 quote is the clock stops when touched OOB. But that still doesn't get a second. Maybe if you stop the clock when the guy that touches the ball steps out prior to touching the ball.
UM is glad Joe lobbied for video review so they could get calls right.
A win for Western Michigan and a loss for UM is what the world sees. It doesn't hurt WM one bit, they beat UM on the field and everyone knows it.

So does that mean they are ending the practice of stopping games and telling the clock operator to adjust the time? Funny how they can say the clock on the field wasn’t official during the Meatchicken game but they stopped to adjust it just a play or two before the first Hail Mary.
@psujoe They corrected it from 8 to 9 seconds just prior to the last play. That is what makes them look foolish. If you correct the stadium clock to 9 seconds I assume it was 9.000 seconds. So are we to assume the on field clock was 9.080? And then can you answer how the 'BIG10 Official' Clock gets calibrated against the video to see when the ball touches OOB?
@underlion ain’t no way there’s enough evidence to put time back on the clock and the big 10 has 2 clocks so they can rig the games for certain teams. 2 seconds in the last 10 seconds got put back on the clock. Same shit happened to us in 05 it’s just happening to many times with Michigan.
From what I have seen with the Hawk-eye system and the synced plays, they actually made the right call. Yeah, it sucks.
The mistake is keeping the broadcast video un-synced, thus giving the viewers the wrong information to know what happened. Simple to just use the hawkeye system (which is synced at the end of every quarter) and use that for the broadcast. That way no one watching on TV is seeing a lagging clock, which is why it show 0 seconds.
Well maybe I am just jaded and you all can call me out if you think I am out of order...The truth of the matter is if the teams were reversed #1 there would have been no extra time added from 8 to 9 seconds and #2 the game would have ended on the 1st hail Mary and that would have been it...I am convinced the name on these uniforms dictate the calls being made...I can only go by what I see and I should be seeing the same thing the players, coaches and officials are seeing when it comes to time on the clock and all the camera angles...I have no faith in the fairness of these games anymore...These son of a bitches are trying to tell you what you see isn't so...Time hasn't run out, Players aren't out of bounds and things that you see with your own eyes never occurred...They insult your intelligence...I am totally convinced they try to control these games as much as possible to have the outcomes they desire...I can tell you that the MAC and WMU are no ok with this as they have just petitioned the NCAA to overturn the game and declare WMU the winner...Of course that ain't happening but they have petitioned the NCAA to overturn the results of the game...I don't even wanna get started on the rankings farce...These games are getting tougher to watch...
Thanks Roam. I hope you are right. So the B10 technical answer would be that the video and the official clock are synched with Hawkeye. The video we see is synched with Hawkeye but the stadium clock is not. So when they added a second from 8 to 9 second per the officials request the official clock might have been 9.9 seconds? One would assume when he added the second it got added to the field clock to roughly match the game clock. Nobody seems to say they added a second to the official clock? I sure hope what the B10 did was right. They look bad, they didn't answer the question very well. So if we watch it frame by frame how much time do you think there is between the stadium clock saying zero and the ball touching a player? Half a second?
Football is a sport that is very dependent on officiating, The marking of the ball, holding calls, PI calls and now time. Very easy to fix a close game it seems. Soccer is worse in that it is low scoring and half of the goals could be off sides. Then we get the penalties in the box calls which result in an 80% chance of a goal. The new computer system for the Word Cup helped a lot.
This is all actually good for the Blue and White. It makes it harder for Michigan to get the B10 benefit going forward:-)

Adjusting the clock is not syncing it. If the broadcast feed of the clock has a half second lag, it still has that lag when the clock changes. If it says 8, it's a half second behind the game feed. If you adjust it to 9, the feed itself is unaffected and still a half second behind. To sync the feeds, you are adjusting the feed timestamps, not the clock. This is so each feed is showing the same moment in time at the same relative frame

Michigan State got a second back and beat Michigan in 2001 because of it. It goes both ways
@roaminglion I can think of three with one team being Michigan when the games are on the line and it always goes Michigan way. The refs at Michigan interfered with teams winning and losing games. Now the MAC conference is complaining.

2016 Michigan got screwed on a late spot that Ohio State was obviously short. (Which gave us the title)
2001 Michigan State had time put on the clock and won, screwing Michigan.

If the B10 Refs really wanted to fix the game they'd have done better to call a hold or some stupid penalty on WM....much cleaner. Maybe pass interference for pushing a UM player OOB? But the ball was badly thrown, not sure it was catchable in bounds.
