The Penn State offensive line has been named to the Joe Moore Award midseason honor roll as one of the most outstanding OLINE units in the country..................thoughts??
Proof that there are way too many illegal drugs getting into the country or maybe legalized pot really affecting people watching college football. That's all I can come up with. LOL.
When Cain is running the football there ain’t any problems running the ball. I said a few weeks back that I believe we have a RB problem not an OL problem. I don’t know why Cain ain’t the man but I’m sure James Franklin has his reasons but IMO if you look at James Franklin track record he never used a RB rotation so that tells me something is up we just don’t know what it is because James Franklin is quite about injuries and how he might punish a player. Whatever it’s working because we are 7-0 ranked 6th 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
I think someone fell and bumped their head.
The OL is very inconsistent and is not where it needs to be. I truly believe some of the biggest differences with teams like Bama, Clemson etc is the number of 4*-5* OL and DL players they have. These are the fewest to go around and they get the lions share.
If the OL is only effectively blocking for Cain then they need to get it together, I don't believe this to be the fact. They just need to get better.
I don’t think they can just block for Cain I believe all the RB’s we have are good for backups except for Cain. Barkley and boobie rushed for a lot of yards and so will Cain when he gets the start. I’m not comparing our OL with Clemson’s or the Tides but I think they are better than what credit they get. It’s not great but maybe a little above average.
Erie McDowell and Cathedral Prep’s very own Joe Moore. We’d like to forget about the Pitt thing.
Who are the people that decide who is on these honor rolls? Perhaps as fans we are too critical.

My mention of those schools are for one reason only 4*-5* OL and DL are huge difference makers early. PSU does not have that and development has been slower IMO. You see many inconsistency when you watch a game from the OL... I believe it will get better
Exactly right nitnation I was just telling the FD that we were still a few years behind Ohio st and a few others with talent but James Franklin is gettin it done in recruiting it’s just going to take another year or 2

Southern, Franklin never had to contend with the freakin' transfer portal before. Maybe that's the reason for the RB rotation now. He's trying to keep everybody happy! Or is it as I suggested before, he sometimes just can't make a decision as soon as he probably should?

Sorry, but I’m not sure you can say PSU’s OL doesn’t have it’s fair share of highly rated recruits:
Rasheed Walker-4 Star, 6th ranked OT recruit in his recruiting class, #65 ranked overall player in the country.
Steven Gonzalez-4 Star, 23rd ranked OG in recruiting class
Michel Menet-4/5 Star, 1st ranked OG in recruiting class, #28 overall ranked recruit in the country
CJ Thorpe-4 Star, 7th ranked OG recruit, #89 overall ranked recruit in the country.
Mike Miranda- high 3 Star, #4 ranked C in his recruiting class
Will Fries- high 3 star, #43 ranked OT in his recruiting class
The guys that left after last year, McGovern and Bates were both 4 star recruits. McGovern was the #3 ranked center in his recruiting class. Bates was the #12 ranked OG in his class. All rankings came from 24/7, a highly respected recruiting site.
Franklin has gotten his fair share of highly ranked OL players. I felt going into this year that the OL was underwhelming compared to the talent ranking they had coming to PSU. I have, however, seen small increments of improvement this year. The past 2 weeks they were able to run the ball for a first down at the end of the game to run out the clock and seal a win. That is encouraging as they seemed incapable of doing that in the past. I think Thorpe, Miranda, and Walker have brought an aggressive attitude that the OL was lacking. And, for whatever reason, they do seem to block better for Cain.
Is it they block better or is Cain just that much better than the other RB’s 99? I believe Cain is much better than brown but brown is #2. Cain just keeps them feet going forward lol. I love watching him run the ball he’s going to be a great one
I also think Cain carries the first tackler with him and sometimes the second. He is the real D10 Bulldozer snake likes to talk about. Haha

He gets some no doubt but... I guess I should add we need to hit on the ones we get also but that goes for anyone.
Walker is a Freshman and I expect him to have some growing pains but guys like Walker need to be plucked in the recruiting process more often...
I don't see Menet last year or this year playing to 4*/5* ranking.
Thorpe was a very nice get and unfortunate due to depth issues he had to play the other side of the ball last year and not develop as an OL prospect. Not his fault and he is doing better now compared to the first few games.
Miranda and Fries are 3* along the OL we need to start getting more 4* and 5*s... Not to say these guys wont develop but that is the other part of a 3*, the time of developing and molding their body.
I hope you are correct on the OL getting better because I have felt they have been to inconsistent. I guess that could just be inexperience and them learning on the job.
I learned a long time ago to always trust you Southern, but I'm really at a loss on this one. I just can't see why you would limit his carries like this. I know its probably impossible in this day and age, but I do remember back in HS, there was one heck of a running back who unfortunately had asthma. The kid had to come out of the game every other play and suck oxygen on the sideline, then went back in! This kept up all game long. With Cain, maybe it's something off the wall like that was. If not, only Franklin, Cain (maybe) and the Shadow knows!

Who knows what X’s and O’s lurks in the heart of coaches?
If I had my way I’d give Cain 30 touches a game. I’d run him like joe Paterno run Tony Hunt down Tennessee’s throal. I don’t like a QB or a RB rotation because IMO you can’t get a rhythm going. Something is up with Cain and when it gets settled he’ll get most of the snaps. James Franklin ain’t never had a RB rotation so that tells me something is definitely up we just don’t know what it is.
