What I am missing here. No doubt that Ohio State has a very good football team, but why so MUCH hype when they haven't played anybody to speak of? Heck, Pitt knocked off a number 15 team and played a decent game against UVA who was ranked ( and gave ND a run) which is WAY more impressive than any team that Ohio State beat.

I doubt Sparty can hang with the Buckeye's this weekend, but it should give us a little more insight on how good Ohio State is. I think we will have better feel for the Lion's after the Iowa game. Â

GO STATE!!

Definitely not sticking up for the nuts but who outside a very few, have played anyone yet? OSU has played a decent Indiana on the road and blew them out, a decent Nebraska on the road and it was over at halftime, and destroyed a decent Cincinnati team at home. That Miami of Ohio team they beat 76-5 just beat Buffalo. Man, football is weird. While not top 25 teams, most of these games were over at half, and a B10 road win is a B10 road win. Sparty is the first really good defense they will play so we'll see how good Fields is. College kids are so fluid, they can show one week and not the next....it always about the matchups.
What I'm interested in seeing is how Fields does when the rushing game is shut down, in every game he's had days to sit in the pocket and throw. In certain ways, this is why recent Ohio State QBs are fool's gold for the NFL.
They have the stats, but I can't remember the last one that was even a quality backup in the NFL. Heck, I think the last one that did anything was Kent Graham. I guess you could say it's easy to throw the ball and look like a star when you have 10 seconds and athletes all around you, but not so easy when big uglies are bearing down on you every play.
That's why this MSU matchup is interesting to me, I think MSU can bring pressure and I want to see how Fields does with it.
I also think that's why the Giants passed on Haskins and went with Daniel Jones. Looking at stats you'd think the Giants were crazy, but Jones learned under fire and didn't have nearly the weapons Haskins had. Viewing the recent matchup between the Giants and Redskins, the Gmen made the right choice.
You take those 2 players and swap teams and the results are totally different...The Redskins organization is a dumpster fire right now...We are gonna find out about Mr. Jones this Sunday when he plays against a real defense...Gruden is about to be fired and he threw Haskins into that game as a screw you to the GM and owner...I believe at the end of the day Haskins will prove to be the better QB...

The Giants have been a dumpster fire for years, and Eli Manning wasn't getting it done anymore.
The Giants finished last in the division two years in a row... not the Redskins. So....
I have just read 3 reports on the Haskins situation in Washington. The facts are that Gruden won't be the head coach after this season and probably won't finish the season as the Redskins head coach. Gruden didn't want Haskins but the owner did. I am sure Gruden isn't putting much into Haskins development...I will stand by my prediction that Haskins will end up being the better QB when it's all said and done...

Haskins needs a ton of work, and I don't know if anyone is going to give him the time to develop. Only games he was any good in at OSU were when he had tons of time.
Two teams brought pressure against OSU that year: Nebraska and Penn State, and he looked bad in both. Only reason his stats looked even respectable against us were two big screen plays that accounted for half his yardage.
Well we are gonna see how ole Danny boy looks on Sunday when the Vikings are in his face all game...I still think Haskins is gonna end up being the better QB when all is said and done...
We will see, meet back in ten years and winner buys the beers! 🤣Â
