I'm hoping they figure it out and get the new HC announced, while there's still anyone with talent left, that hasn't already jumped ship for another school.
Either its a big name who recruits will flock too, or its a solid coach from another program who will bring staff and players with him to get things up and running eg Indiana like.
@rip we gotta give the man 4 or 5 years brother lol
What the heck? Let's give him as much time as we gave James. In fact, I think he's due for a contract extension right now, lol!
@rip if we don’t get this coaching thing right it will be a long 3 or 4 years. And just the thoughts of keeping Jim Knowles has me very nervous lol I’m starting to miss James Franklin already. With Franklin all we needed to fix was the QB position lol
@rip all kidding aside if Kularrow is right the OC from Ohio State is already the coach we just don’t know it yet. They’ll let CTS lose to Ohio St and we’ll know something this time next week. Urban Meyer is the only coach from Ohio State I’d hire. Coach day is an average coach if he coached at Nebraska they’d have losing seasons Ohio St just has so much talent they just run over and outlast teams. Luke Fickle is a prime example baby and look at our defense RIP smh
Please stop with the Manny Diaz nonsense...I don't want Diaz...He has never been anything but a mediocre head coach...This hire needs to be a BIG hire with lots of sizzle...Diaz, Rhule and that ilk just ain't getting it done...This next guy gotta be a grand slam...I am curious to see who they bring in...
@the-funeral-director wanting Diaz ain’t nonsense he’s one of the most respected coaches in the country. There’s not a coach out there that wouldn’t want him as their DC and when he gets another shot at a big time Head coaching opportunity I believe the dude will win a NC. We will see how all this plays out for sure.
I agree...He is one of the best DC's in the country...No doubt about it...As far as a head coach...not so much...He will NEVER win a National Championship as a head coach...He is a great DC but a mediocre HC...He shouldn't be considered and I don't think he is being considered for the current Penn State head football coach opening...

Manny Diaz is mediocre at best and not one of the most respected head coaches in the country ! But he is respected as an elite D coordinator.
That's right Southern...You just said it yourself...He has something to prove...I don't want a head coach with "something to prove" because he hasn't done it...I want a PROVEN winner for the next HC...To me you got 2 choices...Cignetti and Brohm...Both are going to be costly from a financial standpoint to bring them here...Penn State has the money to do it and it would be foolish to borderline criminal if they don't make that happen...Considering the investment they are making in stadium and facility renovations it would be pure unaldulterated stupidity if they don't...Like I said you go in there and make them an offer they can't refuse...Penn State is one of the few programs in the country that can do that and it is malpractice by the brain trust and money people within the program not to do that...
@the-funeral-director I don’t disagree with hiring either one of these 2 guys but I wouldn’t be disappointed if they hired Manny just don’t get the Ohio St dude because Jim Knowles has been a disaster. What works at Ohio St might not work at Penn St.
As far as I am concerned this job comes down to 3 candidates and in this order...Cignetti, Brohm and Brady...I don't want any part of any of these other guys...I won't further bore you with what I have stated too many times already in this forum as to how I would do this...I will just say make them an offer they can't refuse...
