I accept being patient but this is Clifford’s third year as a starter. To compete for the National Championship, he needs to consistently up his game.
Of course, but to be fair it's also his 3rd OC and new offense to learn in 3 years as well.
I guess in some ways, it nice to think we have a QB that regardless of the situation, can just pick the ball up and play, say like the 1 in 1000 freshman QBs that just get it, or a McSorley type that innately can seize the opportunity and improvise out of the chute. Now granted I'm talking about skill and the proverbial It factor which is had to come by, so I do think there has to be a fairness of what the expectation is being that we basically know what we got for the most part, at least I believe that, again no knock on the kid, I do think he is giving it 110%.
Let's not forget that McSorley took a few games to get Moorehead's offense as well. 4 of his first 7 games he was under 55% passing and threw for 209, 160, 150, and 120 yards.
I agree, but McSorley from the get go had that, we are gonna win this attitude and his play demonstrated it. Some QBs just have that and a lot don't. No knock on Cifford, IMO it's just something you see and get a feel for with some players regardless of sports. Gable Stevens IMO has that factor even in the last few seconds of the Olympics he's the guy who you think can pull off the impossible.
There was a lot to like about this game...Defense was stellar and I believe the offense will improve and become a good offense...This was a great win and something to build on...They have a lot of work to do and hopefully they improve week to week...
